I saw Madison and Greg sitting on the bench outside.

What was up with them, lately they had been spending a lot of time together.

I pushed the thought away.

I had to deal with the problem at hand which is to humanise Dalton by making him socialise.

Now that Taylor had forgiven him, only Madison and Greg were left.

"I'm telling you this is going to be very difficult"

"It wouldn't be if you are with me"

"I'm no angel"

"See from my perspective"

I rolled my eyes.

"Urm.. Hey guys"

Dalton said unsure.

They just stared hard at him.

"I'm sincerely sorry for my behavior yesterday..."

They narrowed their eyes.

"We don't have energy left for any more of your snide comments or insulting remarks Dalton, so if you could excuse us please"

Madison said leaving.

"Madison please stop. He has a valid reason for that"

I said grabbing her wrist.

"What! You are at his side! No valid reason can justify his rude behavior!"

Madison said shocked.

She walked out leaving Greg behind.

"Tell me that you didn't end up losing your heart to this heartless creature?"

Greg asked.

"If you remember correctly I was the one to slap him yesterday when you were busy making out with my best friend!"

I spat.

His eyes widened in shock.

I was very angry and said things which I shouldn't have.

"I'm sorry..."

I whispered moving closer to him.

He jerked out of my reach.

What have I done?

My knees felt weak and I trembled.

Dalton steadied me.

"It's okay. You don't need to do this for me. You don't need to fight with them for me"

He said, gently stroking my back.

"How can they think that I'm in love with you?"

"I'm offended. How can you not be in love with a perfect guy like me? Am I not drool worthy?"

He said smirking.

"Dalton! I'm serious!"

I said shoving him away.

"I knew they aren't small kids who can be made to cooperate by giving them cupcakes. They are stubborn as hell!"

---------------------------------------------

I received the silent treatment from both of them for over a week.

Whenever they saw me they would pretend that I didn't exist.

They would stare at the walls as if they don't have a mind map of it already handy in their brains.

During first few days I made multiple attempts in vain.

This was taking a toll on me.

I was feeling sad and only one place felt like home to me.

After my best friend Avery had abandoned me, I couldn't risk losing more friends.

I half walked and jogged towards the cemetery which always felt as my second home.

I settled near the angel statue marveling at the beautiful woods around.

All of a sudden I felt very lonely.

Even though I had parents who would come over to meet me once in a month.

I reminisced about my life before I landed hear.

"I promise that I will never forget you. You will always be my best friend!"

Avery promised as she tied the necklace with key around my neck.

"Keep it safe! You have the key to my heart"

She said wearing the heart necklace.

I hugged her.

We were walking back home together when suddenly dark dots began dancing in front of my eyes.

I fainted on the pavement.

When I opened my eyes I was lying in a room with white walls and ceiling.

I looked around to find a drip attached to my nose.

"Mom?"

"Doctor! She's awake!"

My said holding my hands.

The doctor came over and examined me.

"First stage... We need to admit her"

It was all the doctor said.

I couldn't comprehend what he said.

My mother burst out crying. I was out for a week. I had slipped into comatose but somehow managed to pull myself out.

But now I know....

I smiled cruelly at the sky. I wish I was still in coma and had never woken up to face so much pain.

It was time to let go of the old memories that hurt.

I unhooked the necklace and glaced at it one last time before throwing it away in the woods.

Instantly, I felt lighter, as if huge burden had been lifted off my heart.

It was getting late and the woods aren't safe after sun sets.

There aren't any monsters, ghouls, spirits or vampires in the jungle but there is always risk of stumbling across a Dalton creature.

I smiled to myself as I got up, brushing off the dust.
