Moving

"Carly!" My mom yelled through the front door. "Can you start bringing boxes from your room, sweetie. The movers are here." I poked my eyes over the top of my book, and stared longingly at the large movers van. We were moving to Kentucky for my dad's job. He got a job offer and he accepted it.  I was so excited!  I felt like moving so far from Maine would be a huge adventure!  I closed my book and made my way up the stairs and into my bedroom. I set the book in one of the boxes, and sealed the box with scotch tape.  Then I slid my fingers under the bottom of the box, lifted it up, brought it downstairs, and put it in the back of the van.  I repeated this process three more times, and then sat down on the wooden floor. Goodbye forever boring Maine I thought to myself. Soon after, the movers cleaned up shop and were on their way to our new house in Louisville, Kentucky.  I'd never seen the house before, but I've heard good things about it from my dad, so I took his word for it. The only bad thing about moving was that we had to drive seventeen hours and forty-five minutes to get to Kentucky!  But honestly, I was ready for the ride!

"Carly!  It's time to go!" My mom called. Finally!  The moment has arrived! So many thoughts went through my head!  I couldn't wait to see my new house and my dad!  I grabbed my suitcases and practically leaped into the car!  I buckled my seatbelt and braced myself for the long ride.

17 hours and 45 minutes later....

I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I woke up.  It was my dad. I threw myself into his arms and hugge him as tight as I could.

"How was the ride?" My dad asked.
" It was pretty long, but it was worth it!" I answered, noticing the house behind him.

"Wow!  It's beautiful!" I said pointing to the house.

"We knew you would like it!" My mom said putting her hand on my dad's shoulder.

"Like it?  I LOVE it!" I replied.  The house was yellow with a gray roof, and it had a little porch in the front.  Attached to it was a huge pool.  I started to tear up.  This was the perfect place to start my adventures.  I hugged my mom and dad, as the movers pulled into the driveway.  The two men started to bring in the furniture, and soon the house started to feel like home.  I couldn't have been happier as I made my way to my room and laid down on my bed.  I closed my eyes and saw myself going to school, and making friends.  This was a better place.
