Everyone was so nice. I wasn't surprised by that, given what I know about Sean and Mark. Mandy and Molly were just the most adorable people and they were so welcoming. Bob and Wade were crazy and fun, but it was nice having some lady back up, it made me feel less like I was the only sane person around.
After introductions were made and we put our stuff away the boys ran off to talk about some game and I was left alone in the living room with Molly and Mandy. We all took a seat around on the various couches and chairs in the room.
"So Mark told us how you guys met, so there goes that conversation point out the window." Molly laughed.
"Why don't you tell us about you?" Mandy followed up.
"Well I was born and raised in Chicago, I work as an office scheduler for a publication company. I started selling jewelry on Etsy. I would rather do that then scheduling.... Yup I think that's about it!" I smiled at the two women. They giggled and continued asking me questions for a bit longer until we heard the thunder of foot steps and four grown men came tumbling down the stairs. Bob managed to over step them all and cleared the staircase with grace, Wade bit it first crashing down hard on the landing followed by Mark flopping down on top of him. Sean seemed to see what was coming before it happened and he managed to clear the two on the floor but tripped any way and did a sort of half-assed summer sault. The three of us just sort of stared at them. Wade picked up his head and was the first to speak.
"So girls, Sushi?" The entire room erupted into laughter.
We all gathered our things and went to our cars, Sean and I taking the jeep, everyone else jumping in Marks SUV.
"So did you enjoy talking to Mandy and Molly?" he questioned as we followed behind Mark.
"Yea they are super nice! Thanks for having me here Sean. It means a lot to me. I am looking forward to the rest of the week." I put a hand on his thigh and he placed his hand on top of mine.
"I am so glad Addy, I am so glad about all of it but mostly I am glad you are here. Having you here just brings it all full circle." He beamed at me as he steered into the parking lot of a small sushi restaurant.
Once we finished eating and talking we headed back to Marks. We finished off the evening eating ice cream and drinking beer around the dining room table. Finally it was time to call it a night and everyone split off to their rooms. Sean took my hand and led me to ours. We got changed quickly and took turns with the others to brush our teeth in Marks one bathroom. We then headed off to bed. I curled in next to Sean and laid my head on his outstretched arm. He bent at the elbow, reaching up to play with my hair as I dosed off.
I woke a few hours later and Sean wasn't there. I got up and threw my cardigan on over my pjs and left the room. I padded down the hall and passed by Marks game room where I heard a lot of noise. The room was sound proofed but you could still make out yelling and screaming. I rolled my eyes and continued on down the stairs. To my surprise I wasn't the only one who had had trouble sleeping without their significant other. I found Molly at the kitchen counter stirring some sugar into a cup of tea.
"Hey Addy, they wake you up too?" She asked.
"No, actually I just woke up and Sean was missing. Once I realized where he was I decided to come get some tea."
"Well great minds think a like." She gestured to the kettle and the tea bags on the table. As I stepped farther into the kitchen she turned behind her to grab me a mug.
"Thanks, so Molly, can I ask a weird question."
"Sure thing go ahead." I tried to figure out how to word it without it sounding strange, but opted to just come out with it instead.
"What is it like living with Wade? Like is it like this all the time where he will just disappear in the middle of the night to go record?" I poured hot water over the tea bag and waited for her answer.
"Yea sometimes it is like this, having a regular life can sometimes be hard because almost everything you do has to be around their schedule. If it isn't then it's a week of preparing extra stuff for however many days you are going to need their undivided attention. Wade is great about it though. Once or twice a month he'll prepare a day or two's worth of extra videos so we can spend quality time together. We make it work." She smiled brightly and a part of me believed her.
Deep down though there was a part of me that thought that sounded awfully complicated and like it would be really hard to have a relationship. I hadn't really thought about what living with Sean would be like. With him working all the time, would there ever be time for me? For us?
"Sean and I barely talk now, we text most of the day and Skype once a day. I always thought that would change if we lived together, hell if we were even in the same country. But that's a good point. I mean I never thought about the amount of time that goes in to prepping for something like that." I pulled the tea bag out and set it on the spoon next to my cup. I took a sip and stared out the window.
"Now Addy, don't worry yourself. It is workable, I mean look at me and Wade! And Mandy and Bob are married and they are just fine. It is possible, if you love him and he loves you, you guys will make it work." I looked back to her startled.
"We haven't really thrown that word out there just yet." I looked down at my tea now avoiding her gaze.
"Well, do you? Love him, I mean." I could feel emotion bubbling up inside me and I felt stupid. We had only been together about two months but he meant the world to me.
"Yea, Molly, I think I do." I let a tear slip down my face. I just couldn't help it. She smiled sweetly at me and put her hand on mine.
"There is nothing wrong with that. Just tell him the truth, I promise you guys will make it work." I heard the door upstairs close, giggling, and then finally three other doors closing. I wiped my eyes quickly and looked to the stairs, Sean appeared at the bottom.
"Hey Molly, you keeping my girl up?"
"Nah I was just sending her back to bed Sean." She patted my hand once more and smiled at me. "I'll clean up Addy, go get some rest."
"Thanks Molly. I appreciate the tea and sympathy." I headed toward Sean and he put his arm around me as we headed up the stairs.
"So what were you two talking about?" He asked once we were snug back in bed.
"Just girl stuff." I giggled, looking up into his beautiful eyes. The bits of moon light coming in through the shades made them shine brighter than usual. He kissed the top of my head, then closed his eyes.
I really did love him, I just didn't know how I could tell him. Or even if I could.
