The emptiness in the outside air sent shivers down my spine. No wind, no crackling of the trees, no sound. Nothing.
Something was off.
It gave me the same sense I usually get right before a storm was about to hit. Little did I know at the time, a storm was about to hit. Although, not the common rain storm we're used to getting here in the rich vibrant geen lands of Tokadana. It was the storm of a raging powerful dark force. A storm of an inhumane being.
I stayed conscious of my surroundings. I moved around through the dim forest to a familiar peaceful spot. It was the place I call my home away from home, even though I never really knew what it was like to have a home. I leaned up against a smooth edged mossy stone beside a running brook. That was the only place to be able to go in the forest to get a clear view of all the galaxies in the sky. The branches of the trees arched just right, allowing subtle moonlight to bounce off the dancing water of the brook. That was my serenity to look forward to at the end of each day. I felt in control here. Untouchable to the rest of the universe.
As I watched each star dive across the night sky, I felt sleep start to take over me. My eyelids felt too heavy to try to keep open. Without fighting it, I slowly let my body shut down.
Suddenly, I could feel myself being jolted awake. I hadn't known what had woken me up until I heard it moments later. It was the whooshing sound of a lightsaber.
My heart was pounding in my chest and the sounds of the saber resonated throughout my ears. I had never encountered an actual lightsaber before. My first instinct was to pull out the only weapon I've ever carried with me, which was my blaster, and hold it straight out in front of me. I unsteadily swung it back and forth in the direction of every new whoosh and slash sound the lightsaber made.
"Who's there?" I managed to shout with a shaky voice. The trigger of the blaster trembled under the movement of my hand.
I cleared my throat, and shouted again, this time attempting to sound more confident.
"Who's there? Show yourself!"
My heart sunk deep into the pit of my stomach as soon as I realized the identity of my challenger.
It was Kylo Ren.
A dark warrior strong with the Force in the First Order. I've heard rumors that he commands his missions with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber.
He walked closer to me with his red saber dangling by his side. With every step he took I could feel the fear start to consume my entire body. I tried to keep our distance by taking a few steps backwards, but as soon as I walked further away from him, I suddenly found myself falling into the cold current of the brook. I quickly grabbed the nearest stone and pulled myself back onto my feet to keep my balance.
I didn't let the cold water phase me. I wasn't going to care about my ragged clothes that were now drenched. My main focus now was on this mysterious dark figure standing a few feet away.
He swung his glowing lightsaber into the air inches away and pointed it directly in front of my face.
"Jade Darkbloom, I presume," he said in a deep menacing voice that was amplified by his helmet.
I opened my mouth, but words did not escape. This seemed to have angered him. He threw down his saber and moved his hand up to my forehead. He wasn't physically touching me, but I could feel his force. He was trying to read my mind.
"So you're the girl I've heard so much about."
I couldn't answer him or even show him some sort of expression that portrayed my fear or anger. I wasn't able to move, speak, or say anything. He had me locked under his power. I cringed from the pain.
"Put her on board," he said as he motioned to his troopers with his left hand.
As soon as he released me, I fell to the ground and my mind went blank. I had fainted.
