On my last vacation to the beach, I almost killed myself...

It's not like I committed suicide really, since somebody was pushing me out from the dock right into the sea below. But I do let myself drowned, washed away by the waves as I surrendered into it. I didn't swim into the surface, nor did I scream for help. I just silently accepted the embrace of death and shut myself into its darkness.

Or so I thought. Suddenly a strong hand gripped my arm and my body was pulled down to the bottom of the sea. I tried to open my eyes, trying to figure out what kind of creature was that, but I simply couldn't. It pulled me deeper and deeper, I could hear my eardrums ringing, protesting the pressure they need to endure.

"Open your eyes, Mortal," a deep voice flinched me up.

I opened my eyes and found a man floating in front of me. He held a small pike, carved handsomely from a bluish metal and adorn by some sapphires and aquamarines. His tanned skin looked contrast with his pale hair. But the oddest thing was how both of us could move as if we were on land. This was terrifying me at first, but I tried my best not to freak out. I looked at him in fear.

"The spirits of water brought you here and begged me to save you," he said in disguise. "Who are you, Mortal,"

"Who... ah, my name is Joanne White, a marine researcher. Nice to meet you,"

"I don't need your name," he said. "Who are you? Why the water spirits want to keep you alive?"

"I... don't know," said I which was answered with a sharp glare piercing right through me. "It's true, I don't know. I thought that you... umm, another intelligence equal to human being from below the sea were not exist in the first time and even though I love sea and I always went there anytime I could I never met the water spirits before,"

"Intelligence equal to human being," he snorted. "What an arrogant mortal you are,"

"I'm sorry," said I. "What should I call you then?"

"No need to," he moved his pike and suddenly I was trapped inside a giant bubble. "You're leaving, now,"

I could feel my body floating back to the surface. Then, somewhere beyond the light in front of me, I could hear some noise, shouts and screams combine, and suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I woke up, chocked by the sea water I drank and after some painful coughs I looked up and found a lot of people were circling me.

"She's alive. Thank God," said an old lady in a simple pinkish summer dress. "You're lucky, child. So lucky,"

"It seems like you were rescued by the sea himself," a man with reddish skin tap my shoulder. "When you were washed into the shore you were as pale as the brand new parchment. No breath, no heat, no life,"

"But then this coast guard fella came and save you," a bald man suddenly said. "Suddenly your colors came back and you started to breathe again,"

"Okay people," another voice broke the crowd. "Let her be. She needs some rest. Do you want me to call an ambulance for you, Madame?"

"It'sok. I think I better get home right now," I said. "Thank you so much for savingme,"
