Sang's POV
I wake up to an empty Nurse's office. I look around for Dr. Green but he is nowhere to be found. Lunch is almost over now, so stomach empty, I make my way to Biology. I choose a seat in the back corner again. Biology goes by excruciatingly slow, taking notes from a lecture.
About half way through the lesson, a boy walks in. He is huge. He has deep black hair and his Red Sox t-shirt highlight his broad shoulders with pronounced muscles. He spoke in a deep voice with the teacher, than turns to the class.
I suck in a breath. He has thick lips, a square jaw, and there's a slight gruff to his face. His olive complexion accentuates his striking features.
His soulful brown eyes focus in on me. I look down and busy myself with doodling in the margin of my notes.
He heads to the desk next to me and sits down. The try-hards in the AP classes settle in the front rows. The ones who are indifferent sit in the middle. The ones who are invisible sit in the back. The teacher continues to drone on while I feel Red Sox's gaze on me. I could learn all of this from the textbook. Why do even need the teacher?
I turn to look at Red Sox. He didn't seem to be paying attention either, with him looking at me and all.
"Hello."
Red Sox nods in greeting. Well at least I'm not the only one who prefers silence. After a couple of minutes, class seems to get increasingly more boring. I focus on his t-shirt. Mark and I shared a love for baseball. Living in Maine, we supported the Red Sox too.
"Baseball fan?" I ask, hoping I'm not disturbing him.
"Yes. You?" he responds, taken aback.
I nod, "Yeah, me and ..." my voice dies, the half smile falling off my face. I had almost mentioned Mark. Red Sox's eyes narrowed. I clear my throat, "I used to watch baseball all the time."
"Have you ever been to a game?" His voice sounds nice; I can't pin where the accent is from. I'm guessing European.
"Sadly, no." Mark and I had looked for the prices of Standing Room tickets at the top but it was still too expensive.
"Would you like to?" My head snaps up, locking eyes with him. My cheeks flush. Was he flirting? The look in his eyes says yes. I giggle and his eyes brighten.
"We don't even know each other's names." I shake my head.
"That would be a great conversation starter." His tone is light and friendly. "My name's Silas."
I can't believe this is happening to me. Another cute kind guy paying attention to me.
"I'm Sang."
His eyes flash in shock. "Huh" He huffs, thoughtful. "Say that again?"
"My name's Sang." I repeat. Is this really happening?
Silas frowns, looking down at his desk. The moment is gone. I turn back to the teacher.
Guess that's a no.
