I watch the clock as it ticks by slowly.

Tick

Apprehensively awaiting my detention, the day seems to drag on. I just want the day to end so I could get back to the warm covers in the safety of my room. The pills in which Dr. Green had so kindly given me dulled the ache of my body, enough so that I could get through the school day. The bell rings and I head to the Nurse's Office, hoping the Miss. Nancy would finally be back. I enter and instead of seeing Miss. Nancy or even Dr. Green, Kota was lying on the bed sleeping. He had looked a little worn out this morning, but I didn't much of it. Most high school students look like the walking dead and I'm sure that I'm no exception.

I settle down on the seat next to the bed and scan him from head to toe. There didn't seem to be any injuries, so he was probably just worn out. I stayed for a second longer, watching him as he slept. His features were soft and relaxed, his steady breathing calming. His breath hitches and his eyelashes flutter as his eyes open. My chair, which had previously been drawn to his bedside, pushes back as I stand up, leaning over him.

"Good morning sleepyhead. How are you feeling?"

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he sits up and yawns, "I'm feeling better than I did earlier, although my body aches more." His deep voice rumbles, his brown hair sticking up in all different directions. Shooting him a sympathetic smile, I sit back in my chair, satisfied by his answer. Kota's hand rubs the back of his neck as he shyly inspects the blanket wrapped around him, "You know, I never got to properly thank you for saving me the other day. I meant to say something but it didn't feel like the right time. I really appreciate what you did." His gaze lifts from the blankets and holds my own and time seems to slow.

Exhaling, a warm gooey feeling spreads through my body. A smile tugs at the corners of my mouth and I can barely manage a whisper. Whatever this emotion is, it has knocked the wind out of me.

"Don't mention it. I did what anybody should have."

His cheeks turned rosy and I pressed the back of my hand against his forehead, which was warm to the touch. I push his shoulders back until he is reclines and give him a pointed look, "You have a fever, so I expect you to get some more sleep, you hear me?"

He nods and I pull the covers up higher to tuck him in.

"See you later Kota."

"See you soon Sang."
