"What are you getting yourself into, Scott?" Kirstie asks as soon as she greets Scott at her front door. Scott leans back slightly, as he was going to give her a hug but now decided against it.

"Nice to see you too?" Scott said in a questioning tone. Kirstie backs up a little, motioning for him to come inside.

"You have to stop and I'm saying his because I love you so much." Kirstie starts. "You cannot try anything with Mitch. No relationship, and definitely not what you have right now. None of it. You guys are friends."

"I didn't say we were more than friends... Did he say that?" Scott asks, curious, but also kind of wishing he did.

"He said that you told him you liked him, which is unacceptable!"

"Why is that so bad? I like him. So what? You've liked boys before."

"But not Mitch."

"Why does it matter?"

"He is my best friend, and I love him and everything, but he is going to hurt you. He gets offended easily, and he is sensitive, he can't talk to you, and you'll feel bad when you yell because he can't reply. After a while, he will break up with you if you don't do it first. And it will be on a note or over text too. He can't do it other wise."

"How is what Mitch and I have relevant to you? I like him, he likes me. We aren't dating or anything."

"I'm warning you, Scott. I can't control you, but I can tell you that Mitch isn't the same boyfriend that he is a regular friend."

Scott shakes his head, taking a seat. His bright and happy mood was now brought down. Why was she saying this to him? Scott liked Mitch and wanted to be happy. Mitch made him happy.

But come to think of it, things would be hard. When they argued. When the break-up came. It would be extremely hard for both of them.

Scott was split in two. Half of him wanted the boy, to say "fuck it" and ignore everything Kirstie had just told him.

The other half wanted to take what she said into consideration, not try anything until he knew it was a good idea, other than now while he was confused and unsure of it.

It was a 50/50, and Scott didn't know what to do. So he did both. He ignored Kirstie, and he didn't try to go any farther with Mitch than they already had, which wasn't very far in the first place.

So they still held hands, and cuddled, and hugged every five seconds. Scott still kept his arm around his waist to make Mitch feel comforted. Scott still treated him the same exact way, but he wouldn't kiss him or, by all means, go any farther than it.

---------------------

Mitch wiped a tear away as he was trying to get the word out. He wanted to learn Kirstie's name, and Avi's, and Kevin's, and Esther's, and Scott's.

But he only had half of one. Kirstie's, but he could only say "Kirs".

It was the most frustrating thing, trying to produce things that didn't want to be produced. Trying to speak for Mitch, even words he knew, was like trying to force an elephant in a car. It was being forced through, squeezed up against his throat until they came out. Sometimes it even hurt a little.

"Kirs..d-No!" He needed a T. Not a d, or a g, but t.

This was the process. Find the first few letters, then put them up next to each other and try to say them both right after another.
