Chapter 2
Jasmine swooped into the Great Hall, her arms linked around Emma’s and Lily’s. She had missed Hogwarts deeply from her time away. It had been a lonely holidays for her, her 21 year old muggle brother had moved away over the last school year, and she was stuck with her father, a man who had cut himself off after the death of his wife, and Jasmine and Steven’s mother when Jazzy was just nine.
Lily split off to go sit at the Gryffindor table with her dorm mates and Jasmine and Emma continued to the Ravenclaw table, and watched as the nervous first years were sorted, each house gaining roughly 20 students. Jasmine’s stomach was rumbling by the time Vivian Marat was called, but at that stage there was still a long way to go for Jasmine’s poor, hungry stomach. Dumbledore stood and said his usual speech about the forbidden forest, no staying out after curfew, and the ever growing list of banned items on Filch’s door.
And finally, there was the food, tonnes of it, lining all five tables, food of every kind, and Jasmine couldn’t wait to dig in. Jasmine and Emma both talked enthusiastically to each other while filling their plates with meat, vegetables and rice, as well as other small things like bread rolls and things as such. People became shocked as Jasmine said hello, for her new looks and the fact she actually said hello, which was rather bold for the old her, but not for the new her.
The rest of the feast passed rather quickly, dessert was amazing as always and the conversations with the people around Jasmine (Emma mostly) were delightful, and then, it was time for bed. The girls rushed over to Lily to say goodnight, before she had to leave with James for Head boy and Girl duty. Jasmine and Emma both nodded their acknowledgment to James’ friends, nothing showing of the encounter in the carriage early but the small scratches on Jasmine’s face, from India’s razor blades called claws.
Emma and Jasmine headed to the Ravenclaw common room, Emma had to stop off at the bathroom, making them later than everyone else and having to figure out the riddle on their own (the answer was egg). They shuffled up the stairs exhaustedly, before changing slowly and flopping onto their beds, and falling asleep.
The next morning at breakfast, Lily had come to join Jasmine and Emma at the Ravenclaw table, and the next morning they would join her at the Gryffindor table (unless Potter was having one of his let’s-stalk-Lily days, which was most days) and so forth each morning. Jasmine had Ancient Runes first while Emma and Lily shared Divination. It was as Jasmine was downing her second omelette when Emma asked the big question that had been bothering her since she was rudely woken by Jasmine earlier that morning.
“So,” Emma paused, trying to seem casual to mask the real excitement and desperation to know the answer to incredibly important question, Jasmine and Lily saw right through her ‘mask’ anyway, ”When are quidditch tryouts?!” Emma’s excitement bubbling over.
Jasmine had been named captain of the Ravenclaw team, after last years, captain, seventh year and team seeker Conner Boot ended his school education and moved onto the real world. This leaving Jasmine with not only the role of captain, but also her dream role as seeker.
“Next Wednesday, so the seventh, oh god, remind me to make posters, and book the pitch, actually I’ll go do that now” Jasmine gushed out worriedly, before rushing of to find god knows who, to book the pitch for Wednesday.
