Chapter 4

It was the seventh of September. To Jasmine, Emma, the clan of Ravenclaw quidditch enthusiasts and James it was the day of the Ravenclaw Quidditch tryouts. But for everyone else it was just the seventh school day of the year 1977.

It was ten minutes before the end of the last period of the day, and Emma was restless, History of Magic never was an interesting subject for her, and her Ravenclaw qualities only got her so far in staying interested.  She lazily tapped her quill against the table top, a few Slytherins giving her dirty looks. She continued to trap her way through the next ten minutes, no longer even paying slight attention to the Professor. It was when the bell rang that she was the first ready to go, though she had to stand and wait for Jasmine to be ready to leave.

Jasmine and Emma both headed up to the Ravenclaw common room, changing into their quidditch robes and grabbing their brooms. They headed on their way down to the quidditch pitch for Jasmine to set up early, meeting Lily at the pitch. The girls quickly got out the needed boxes full of the balls needed for the tryouts.

It was time for the tryouts to start and Jasmine had everyone line up in front of her. It was five minutes after when Jasmine intended to start that they were prepared to, Jasmine opened her mouth to speak,

“Ok, so everyone has read the signs in the common room, there are no First years and the seeker position is taken, so if you are here for either that role or are a first year please quickly vacate the pitch or move to the stands to watch, you will have your cha-“ Jasmine’s starting speak was cut off by Emma’s annoyed voice.

“Is that Potter!” Emma’s disgusted voice exclaimed staring at the opening to the pitch. Jasmine turned and too spotted a shifty looking Potter was glancing round the entrance to the pitch, not yet noticing the group. Emma started at a quick pace towards the boy, Jasmine stayed rooted to the spot as the rest of the team to followed Emma, Jasmine had never liked confrontation. Lily was suddenly standing beside her; the two looked at each other before setting off at a slight jog to get to Emma before she did anything irrational.

Up at the castle, at much the same time, Remus walked into the Head’s common room to see Sirius flopped out on the puffy red couch, not an unusual sight, what was unusual was the fact that James was not there,

“Where’s James?” Remus questioned.

“He ran out of the room as soon as I entered, muttering something about quidditch tryouts “  Sirius muttered lazily staring at seemingly nothing. Remus thought nothing of it for several seconds until his eyes widened and he looked once again at Sirius.

“What’s the date Sirius?” He asked hurriedly,

“The seventh, why do yo-“ Sirius cut himself of in realization, as he stared wide eyed at Remus, the kid from a couple of days ago had said Ravenclaw tryouts were on the seventh. Sirius leapt of the couch and him and Remus ran their way through the castle and towards the pitch, they couldn’t let James do anything stupid.

Sirius was always the main troublemaker with James, so he didn’t mind when James did stupid things, but this was going too far, quidditch captains took their profession  very, very seriously, which was maybe why James was doing this. But if a quidditch captain caught someone else, especially the member of an opposition team, some not so nice stuff happens.

The two raced the way down to the pitch, both quite fit, though for entirely different reasons. As they reached the entrance of the pitch Remus bent over, hands on his knees, for only a few seconds. The sight they were greeted by was a straight faced James with an unamused looking Emma directly in front of him.
