After letting dad know that I found her, I slipped my phone back into my glittery clutch. The glittery clutch I was hoping to flaunt at the party... I kept wondering how different this evening would've been if it weren't for my moronic little sister... And the storm...
Megan drummed at the coffee table with her fingers, flicking her eyes to Fawn every now and then, pleadingly for help. Mine were narrowed to slits at my little sister, ready to yell at her.
These are times when my smile gets the better of me. I end up in an awkward situation, clenching my teeth around the inside of my cheek to stop myself. It looks like I'm trying suppress a laugh, and people just do not get the fact that things have gotten serious.
Knowing me well enough, her eyebrows knit together as soon as she met my gaze.
Owen let a laugh escape, "Come on Oki_" I shot an icy glare his way making him stop. The tension had grown so uncomfortably thick, when suddenly thunder rumbled, you could cut through it with a knife.
"I can't believe this Megan! That was very irresponsible behaviour coming from an eighteen year old. Dad was worried sick! You can't keep running away whenever you feel like it." I stressed on every syllable, making sure that I sounded stern.
"I'm eighteen! That means I get to decide whether I'd like to go or stay!" She's right.... Isn't she old enough to have that decision? How stupid of me!Fawn slightly nodded, agreeing with Megan. A few seconds passed in an awkward silence.
"I'm sorry_" I finally spoke, "I shouldn't have forced you. But don't you want to meet new people? Have a good time? I just don't want you to stay cooped up at home!"
"I... I just didn't want to be seen in that pink dress."I raked a hand through my hair and sighed, "You should've just told me! God, Megan! Grow up!" My smile found its way back on my face and I put an arm around Megan, who still seemed unsure, "I'm still not coming."
"Why?"
"Just because..." She shrugged
"You don't have to. Rebecca called me up and told me that the party's canceled because of the storm."
"Yes!" Megan pumped her fist up in the air happily.
"Its been postponed to next Saturday. So you have enough time to make your mind up about it."
"Still not coming." She said in a flat tone.
"Come on nut! Owen and I are going too!" Carter exclaimed. Owen nodded, "It won't be any fun without you!"
"Awwww.... But I'm not gonna change my mind about it..." My face fell. "Unless...." She continued, "Fawn comes along!" She grinned wide.We looked over to Fawn, who smiled, biting down on her lower lip at the same. We peered at her, leaning in to hear her mumble something under her breath.
"I'll think about it!" Raking a hand through her hair, she stormed out the door.
