*This chapter will be a bit longer than the rest....I appreciate the patience.*
"Holy shit."
"B-but she's a Seer! Not an angel."
I stood slowly, completely ignoring them. I rolled my tense shoulders to get accustomed to the added weight. They were smaller compared to Zeke's and Isaac's, yet sleek and powerful. The white flashed in the limited moonlight while the black blended with the night. I gave them a powerful flap and I shot straight up. I pulled them around me and plummeted, opening them just in time to catch myself. I faced their shocked expressions once I had landed.
"Look, I know this is freaky or amazing or whatever you want to call it but we don't have the time to figure out why I have wings or how it happened. We have friends being tortured and we need to save them."
Without another word, I began walking in the direction of the lake. From the thud of their feet, I knew they were following. Not long after dos we reach the edge of the trees and spot the lake.
"You should put your wings away. Make them think you're a normal Seer."
"Is there a lot of us?"
"No. Which is why we need to hide them."
I rolled my eyes but did it anyway.
"There. Happy?"
"Very. And you have amazing control by the way. No one is able to do what you're doing so soon."
I grinned cheekily.
"Why, thank you. Now come on."
I made my way to the lake and the closer I got, the darker it became.
"I'm going to hold onto your wrist so we don't lose each other. I don't want Lucifer finding you if I'm not there."
I gave him a curt nod and felt his fingers wrap around my wrist.
"Ready?"
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Let's go get them."
We walked closer to the lake and watched while it began to bubble.
"Kira."
I looked over my shoulder and found Isaac,s worried expression.
"I'm going with you."
"Isaac," Zeke answered. "I don't think that's the best idea."
"And why not?"
"They will know you're a Guardian by your wings. We always have our wings out."
"Besides, if we need you, I'm sure my mark will call for you and you can come help."
The look of indecision on his face crumbled into submission.
"Alright."
I gave him a quick hug and held hands with Zeke. I nodded.
"On three. One...two...three!"
We jumped into the lake and as the bubbles consumed us, our hands tightened. When we landed, he landed gracefully on his feet while I landed on my backside.
"That's gonna leave a bruise on the morning," I groaned. He helped me up and we threaded our way into the crowd.
"We need to get to the palace. That's where he's hiding them."
