Today we didn't have school. No one told the students why. Our parents knew though. They won't tell us. I guess that's what happens when you are only 15 years old. I guess our parents just want what's best for us, but that is most likely wrong.
There was a knock on the door. My mom asked me to go and answer it. I walked down my stairs to the door. I opened it and there stood a police officer.
"Hello. Is your mother or father home?"
I nodded then yelled for my parents to come and talk to them. When they came over to the door, they turned and looked at me.
"Max. Can you please go up to your room for a little bit?"
I looked at my mother,. Then I looked at my father. I nodded. But they knew that I was going to be listening at the top of the stairs like I do most of the time. When I got to the top of the stairs they went out the door. When I got to my room I opened my window a little it, but just enough for me to hear what they were talking about.
"Do either of you know a girl by the name of Jenna Marbles?"
"Yes! I'm best friends with her parents."
"What happened?"
"She was the victim of a brutal murder. We are going around and seeing if anyone had seen or heard anything. Has anyone seen or heard anything here?"
"I didn't hear nor did I see anything that happened last night."
"Maybe Max saw something. He's always near his window at night as well as in the streets for a midnight walk. He thinks we don't know about that."
"May I please speak to him then?"
Both my parents looked at eachother and then they nodded their heads. I saw them walking into the house, as soon as I saw them walking in I slammed my window shut and laid in my bed with my school book in my hand like I was really reading it.
"Max! Sweety! Can we please come in?"
"Yeah! It's open."
"Max this police officer would like to ask you some questions, okay?"
I nodded. The officer looked at me with these unreadable eyes.
"I would like to know what you know about a girl that goes to your school. Her name is Jenna Marbles. Is there anything you could tell me about her?"
"Not really. I mean I know her from school but I don't really know who she is as a person. I don't really hang out with her. What happened to her?"
The officer looked at my parents as if asking if it was okay to tell me what had happened. They nodded.
"She was murder. We are trying to see if anyone has seen anything different about her lately. Did you happen to see or maybe hear anything that happened last night that really might help us out with the investigation?"
"No sir. I can't say that I did. I'm sorry that I can't be any help.""It's okay son. If you hear anything please contact the police station."I nodded and then the officer left. It's sad to hear about what happened to Jenna. I walked down the stairs to see if I could go and hang out with Kassie and Allie for a little bit at Kassie's house. My parents said that it was fine considering they live right down the street from me. When I left all I could think about was who could do such a thing to her. I wonder if Allie or maybe even Kassie heard or say something last night.
