---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapter 14 –

I came back to the sound if beeping. It was such an annoying sound that I wanted to tell someone to turn it off. I opened my eyes to a white ceiling. Oh man, I was in a hospital. I blinked at the brightness and tried to right myself. Once I had adjusted to the light change I looked across the room and found a couch and on the couch was Brendan who was sleeping. He looked so peaceful that I smiled. I heard the door open and a nurse came in quietly. She looked up at me and smiled.

“Ah. Its nice to see that you are finally awake Miss O’Callaghan.” She whispered and I smiled. She came over and checked my monitors. I watched her curiously.

“How are you feeling?”

“Like I have just been hit by a train.” The nurse chuckled and glanced at Brendan was snoring softly.

“He has never left you know. He has been sleeping in here on the couch. He really cares about you.” She looked at him once again and then left the room. I glanced back at him and smiled again. I then looked around the room, it was fancy. There was a plasma screen on the wall and the couch that Brendan was lay on did look comfortable. I must be in a private hospital. I then noticed a pillow that was rested on my lap. I looked at it and grinned. I picked up wincing a little from the pain in my side and then threw it at Brendan’s head; he woke up with a start and looked around confused. His eyes finally rested on mine and I was frowning. His confusion melted away into a smile. He got up from the couch and came and sat on my bed next to me. I moaned as the bed dipped, my back and side was killing me.

“Kay I am so sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen. I was just trying to protect you and make sure that you were safe. I had to get engaged to her because…”

“Stop.” I held up a hand, he looked at me confused.

“Do you honestly love me?” I asked.

“Yes of course I do.” I shook my head.

“You are lying. If you were telling me the truth then you would have said no. You love Talia; you proved that by getting engaged to her for god sake! Everything that we sheared was a joke to you. Don’t worry though Brendan I am gonna take her down and I’m gonna make sure that she gets a very long sentence.”

“Kay, listen to me. I don’t love Talia. I love you, I have loved form the moment that I met you and all I want is you. The only reason that I got engaged to her was to protect you. I had to…”

“No! I don’t wanna hear it Brendan. It is all the same, all you care about is her, spare my feelings and just leave.” I turned away from him trying not to cry.

“But…” He tried to explain but I shook my head. He looked so hurt that I almost fell for it.

“Just leave.” A tear slipped out and I felt exposed. He tried to reach for me but I shook my head and pushed him away. He looked at me for a moment and then sighed. He then picked up his jacket and then left the room. I let the tears flow and I sobbed. I then sobbed harder as the pain in my back and side were killing me. I was glad that no one came in, once I had finally finished crying I drifted off to sleep.

I woke up to the sound of the door opening. I looked over and found Grace standing there and was frowning at me.

“What happened?” She demanded as she walked over to my bed and sat.
