Lexi’s POV
When I finally got back to the house I was greeted with the sight of Em’ and Seth making out.
“Guys please save me the nightmares and get a room! Good Grief!” I wasn’t kidding; those two make me sick at times.
“Sorry Lexi. You and Ash were gone for a really long time and well, we kinda got bored . . . .” Emili said, trailing off and sneaking a glance at Seth.
“Couples.” I muttered.
I heard footsteps behind me; Ash made it into the living room. I’m surprised on how bad I feel about blowing him off like that. I can tell he cares but I don’t want to. Wow! I honestly don’t know what I want. I gasped as electricity flew through my veins, causing my muscles to contract. Man I wish he wouldn’t do that.
Frowning, I shrugged his hand off my shoulder. Ash walked around me and trudged over to the window and leaned his forehead against the cold panes and sighed deeply. Yep I feel like a complete b-witch.
“So Lexi, is Ash finished PMSing?” Seth snickered. Ash grunted at the same time I let out an irritated growl.
He glanced at me, giving me a look that said ‘be careful!’ He walked over to the couch and sat down beside Rexy. Ash kept his eyes trained on the plush toy and I could have bet money that he wanted to rip the Barney incarnates’ head off. I reluctantly walked over and sat next to Ash, being sure to put as much difference between us as possible.
“When are you going to open the rest of your gifts Lex’?” Emili asked as she held Seth's hand.
“Mine’s next!” Seth jumped up and ran out of the room. “Just sit tight and let me go get it.” We heard him holler. He rushed back in with a red collar twirling around his index finger. He dropped it into my lap; I smiled weakly.
“Seth I’m confused, I don’t have a cat.” This was supposed to be the best day ever. Curse Ash for making me feel like a steaming worthless pile of cow dung. I glared at him from the corner of my eyes.
“That’s the best part!” Seth shrieked! “Monday, I’m taking you to the animal shelter to adopt a cat!” My eyes got as big as saucers as I leapt up pulled the goofy guy into a humongous hug!
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you Seth! Em’ sorry but it think he just topped your gift!” I was smiling like an idiot! Then realization fell on me. “Oh crap! Seth I have a family thing Monday after school.”
“That’s fine, we can go Tuesday!” Once again, the afternoon got better. Ash pulled me back down onto the couch. I frowned; the jerk just ruined it, again!
“Now it’s my turn!” he stood up and pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to me. I opened it slowly and then saw the gorgeous ring that was nestled into the foam. I picked up the ruby cameo and gazed at it admirably. It was the most beautiful piece of jewelry I had ever seen.
“Thank you,” I gasped and without thinking, I pulled him into a hug. By the time, I felt the wave of electricity he had his arms wrapped around me and I couldn’t pull away. When it had passed the feeling of elation erupted and I sighed in pleasure. He let me go and I pulled away causing the warmth to disappear. I slipped the red beauty onto my right index finger and admired it once again. “It’s beautiful Ash, thank you, I love it!”
