Dumbledore never once dated anyone - male or female. From the start he knew he liked boys but that was unacceptable at the time. He went through Hogwarts, handsome and talented but loveless. When he met Grindlewald and the two grew close, it was Dumbledore who pushed for world supremacy and who started down the path of the Hallows. Their friendship grew until Dumbledore realised he was in love. In a drunken moment of madness, Dumbledore kissed Grindlewald. Grindlewald was shocked and horrified, he escaped to Germany and built Nurmengard; he ran from Dumbledore. And every time Dumbledore argued love could fight evil, he felt Grindlewald's anger and hatred in that one foolish kiss. And he hated himself.
A/N I am in love with Dumbledore, seriously. He is, in my opinion, the most well written character ever to grace literature and his backstory could have made me cry. R.I.P Albus Dumbledore.
