It is known that the four founders had an argument which led to Slytherin leaving Hogwarts. It could be because Slytherin disliked the Muggleborns entering their school. Or could it be something else? The Bloody Baron is the ghost of Slytherin House and he fell in love with Ravenclaw's daughter. Perhaps Salazar Slytherin had pushed the Baron into Helena and convinced him of his love for her. Rowena Ravenclaw then used this infatuation to try and convince her daughter to return home. This failed terribly. Helena Ravenclaw and the Baron were both killed by the Baron himself. Rowena, grieving, could see this as being Salazar's fault for his urgency in getting the Baron and Helena together. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are bound to agree with Ravenclaw fie to her recent loss creating a heated argument resulting in Slytherin creating a chamber where he can reside alone with his pet. Slytherin would later flee Hogwarts after a particularly violent argument when the Baron returns as the ghost of Slytherin.
