The sandwich was good. Namjoo was enjoying every bit of it while Chorong searched through the pamphlet for information. That was when something caught her attention from the corner of her eye. When she turned she saw someone, a man, waving at her from the empty lane in the street. He was saying something, but she couldn't read his lips. There was definitely something about him that was drawing her utmost attention.
"I'll be back," Namjoo said before scurrying outside.
The wind was blowing hard for a warm spring day when she ran outside. There were few people walking around, but none seemed to pay any attention to her well-being.
"You're not coming?" the bald man questioned from the street.
Namjoo stared at him and ran her eyes over his tan jacket and those ugly boots he was wearing. Who was he?
"You don't want to know the secrets of your past?"
Namjoo held her breath and turned to peer through the window to see Chorong conversing with Suho. It would be alright, wouldn't it?
Then as if there were some kind of magnetic pull, her legs started moving forward. The only things that came into her vision were the surrounding towers of businesses and window shops. Cars speeded by in blurs and it felt like there were bricks building up in her mind blocking her consciousness from calling out to her. Namjoo couldn't think or see for herself.
Her body lowered a bit when she stepped off the curb and into the street, which she thought was empty. The spell broke immediately when a car coming too fast toward her honked. She wouldn't make it out of the way in time and Namjoo could only feel her eyes sink into the oncoming vehicle in utmost fear. Then she heard really loud thudding footsteps before something slammed into her and she went flying against the sidewalk.
Namjoo let out a loud shout as she landed on her side and felt her arm scrape the concrete.
"What the hell were you doing!?" a furious Luhan screamed from above her.
Namjoo blinked her eyes lost and looked around before he pulled her up.
"Are you ok?" he asked with a gentler tone.
Namjoo turned to look at the scrape. It hurt and she thought she wanted it gone before it really did disappear. She turned to him wide eyed as if he could explain to her about why it had happened, but he didn't say anything.
"Oh my god! Are you ok!? I'm so sorry..." the driver began, but quieted. "Namjoo? Is that you?"
She turned to the woman and felt her voice catch itself in her throat when she recognized Chanyeol's sister.
"I'm so glad to see you!" Mi Hee exclaimed.
"Namjoo!" Chorong shouted as she ran over before stopping by her and glanced at Chanyeol's sister before offering a quick bow.
"How've you been? I haven't seen you two in the longest," Mi Hee continued.
Namjoo watched her eyes run over Luhan, who still had his grasp on her arm, before turning to look at Suho.
"It's nice seeing you, we'd like to catch up, but we really have to go," Chorong excused before grabbing Namjoo's arm.
Namjoo shot her a smile before turning away to follow Chorong's lead. They finally stopped around the corner before Chorong turned to Suho.
"I told you she was a troublemaker," Chorong nervously laughed.
"Oh it's fine. At least she's not hurt," Suho commented before turning to Namjoo, "you're not hurt, are you?"
