The fake boyfriend (A bethyl story)

Daryl's POV

Beth wanted me to go to an old fair to see where she likes to go and I was confused why she would want me to go to a fair that comes and goes every summer..

I was at the ticket entrance and brought a ticket to get in it was quite busy and the bright lights hanging across the Ferris wheel and stage stood out most of all.

My old phone vibrated in my hand..

Beth:  "Meet me by the stage x" 

So I made my way through the medium sized crowd gathered by the stage

I heard a sweet familiar voice

"I'm going to sing one of my songs,married " The voice echoed over the whole field.

I looked up to the stage to see Beth standing right there on the stage.

She then started to sing,her sweet voice sent shivers down my spine as I watched her grow comfortably on stage.

I watched her eyes scan across the audience,I raised my arm a little and waved slowly in Beth's direction.

"Married baby married and go home...." She sang smiling as her eyes met mine.

After she had finished performing,She messaged me to meet her by the candy floss.

While I was waiting I was just watching people walk around the fair families, couples, children, friends... everyone looked so happy..

Children begging their parents for sweets or to go on a certain ride,couples walking hand-in-hand and friends laughing and joking.

I didn't go anywhere with my family as a kid it was mostly me and Merle who made our own entertainment and that's how Merle got in with the wrong crowd.

"How did I do?" A voice laughed and I turned around to see Beth smiling with flushed cheeks.

"Amazing"I added returning the smile.

"Shall we go on one quick ride before we leave?"Beth asked

"Sure,what one?"I asked

Before I knew it I was boarding a Ferris wheel,she hopped in first and I followed but as I went to step in I waked my head against it causing Beth to burst out laughing as I crashed into my seat with my hand on my head.

"Ow"I moaned,but I did end up laughing at Beth's loud laugh.

"Are you okay?"She asks calming down.

I just nod smiling.

"I ain't been on one of these in ages"Beth says

"I ain't been on one of these"I added seriously.

"You're not afraid of heights are you Mr Dixon?"She smiled

I shook my head,"I'm not afraid of nothin'"

When we reached the highest point,Beth whipped her phone out and took pictures,I even had to admit the view from up here was great.

"Anyway, I brought you here to show you the place I like to go and it just all relates to music and singing,I get paid for doing gigs like this,but I'd happily do it for free"She smiles

The Ferris wheel moves and rocks from side to side,but in a calming way.

"The world seems so quiet from up here"I mumble.

Beth nods,"Thanks for agreeing to be my 'fake boyfriend',it really means a lot I know it might seem stupid and pathetic,but I'm just grateful that I've got such a good friend like you" Beth says this whilst looking straight into my eyes with her hand on myright knee.

I don't know why but the word 'friend' disheartened me a little.....

Surely,I'm not falling for Beth Greene?...................Am I?
