"Tonight. Is that okay? I have to visit my father tomorrow, so..." Sapphire left the classroom, pulling on her rucksack and re-straightening her skirt. "Yeah! But where?" Ruby let her excitement take control again, her volume inappropriately loud for a school corridor as she pursued the other girl. "Your house. Where do you live?" The older girl stopped near her next class, registering Ruby's anxious expression.
"Umm, ok. But my sisters are, uh, a bit of a handful." She muttered, rubbing the back of her neck and looking at her 'school-appropriate' trainers. Sisters? Sapphire had always assumed her to be an only child. "Oh, how old are they?" She replied, edging closer to the classroom door. "Hah, same age. Were triplets. They just go to a private school because of there good grades... unlike me..." Ruby shrugged it off, ignoring how much it hurt that her parents really had no faith in her.
"Uh huh, give me your number." Sapphire pointed to her phone. "A bit forward, but alright." Ruby teased, flashing a toothy smile and goading a small smile from Sapphire. "I need your number so that you can text me your address, no other reason." Sapphire retorted with a stubborn grin that wouldn't leave. "Ok, here." Ruby quickly typed her number into Sapphire's contacts and eagerly waved goodbye, slipping into the crowded corridor before the other student could defend herself.
The two students weren't in the same maths class, obviously. Amethyst however, was in Ruby's class. She wasn't an Einstein either. Ruby sat down in her usual seat, directly across from Amethyst (who was waving like a baboon to get the others attention.) Ruby scribbled down the date, balancing her pencil on her top lip and daydreaming as she usually did during this 'useless' lesson, as she would call it. 'Why am i ever gonna need to know the radius of a fucking circle!?' She would often shout to her parents after their lecture about the importance of mathematics. "Hey, wake up! Ame is trying to get your attention!" Lapis squawked, snapping her fingers in the girl's face.
Ruby didn't like that. The way people would shorten your name into a stupid nickname like 'Ame.' She would hate it if someone started going around calling her 'Rube' or 'Rubes'. It was one of her many major pet peeves. "Alright, alright." The now pissed girl responded, as she didn't appreciate having fingers snapped at her either. Lapis rocked on a chair and passed her a note, an unevenly folded piece of scrap paper. Ruby sighed and read it, her cheeks flushing and eyes widening after doing so, evoking a chuckle from the trouble maker opposite her.
'Dont worry, sapphs gay too. You can kiss her.'
The crude note said, accompanied by a shit drawing of a kissy face. Lapis glanced over, read it, and giggled. The flustered girl scowled in response, crinkling the edges of the note. The teacher had caught on to what was going on by now. He lunged forward, angrily snatching the note before Ruby could react. "So, you think it's all fun and games to pass noted in my lesson? Especially with your low grades, Ruby?!" His volume raised as her glanced at the note, Ruby frantically shaking her head 'no!' as her proceeded to read it aloud.
"Don't worry, Sapph's gay too. You can kiss her."
Amethyst gasped loudly and stood up, her face red with panic as the class laughed hysterically and gasped along with her. Wasn't Sapphire straight? Apparently not. That was the biggest secret she had ever been told, and she told her whole maths class just for the sake of banter with Ruby, who was burning the teacher with a look of hatred. In Amethyst's eyes, this was Ruby's fault. Why couldn't the girl of just put it into her fucking pocket?! Amethyst's conscious screamed at her, provoking her to leave her desk and stamp up to Ruby. You could cut the tension with a knife as they stood eye-to-eye.
"That weren't meant to be shared, dipshit!" Amethyst shoved her backwards, the class shouting 'oooooh' as she did so and Lapis standing up with Ruby. The teacher left to get what could only be called backup to break up the inevitable fight about the break out. "You passed the note." Ruby snarled, violently pushing the desk into Amethyst shins and making her wince. They both shouted curses at each other, until finally Amethyst grabbed Ruby's shirt and threw her to the floor.
Ruby wasn't one to go down easy. Not at all. So she jumped back up and threw a punch at her challenger, sending her tumbling backwards. A few brave people pulled out their phones to record this fight. Lapis stepped forward "Stop! Come on guys, your not animals!" She preached from beside Ruby, not fancying being caught up in the brawl.
"She looks like one." Amethyst insulted, before the two students were full on beating each other up; throwing punches, kicking, biting, hair pulling. There were no rules. "Enough! Enough! Put away your cameras or expulsion!" Shouted a panicking head mistress and her secretary prying the two away from each other, all though it wasn't easy. Ruby's usually 'tame' afro was now completely askew, wild curls bouncing in every direction. She had a scratch across her cheek and a savage bite mark on her neck. "Fucking dracula." Ruby yelled as she registered the mark and was pulled from the class. "Sapphire's gonna hate you! You fucked up big time!" Amethyst taunted, a black eye becoming visible as she clenched her side that was throbbing from a soon-to-be-bruise.
