Elizabeth was waken up by her cousin, who, as he couldn't throw jump on top of her bed because of her being wounded, decided to tickle her nose with a feather. Where had he got the feather? Nobody knew and nobody actually wanted to ask. Lizz slapped his face, grumpily muttering something, still half asleep.
'Today there's no Mr. Grumpy, but I can see we've got a Miss Very Grumpy right here.' Lewis commented, making Elizabeth open her right eye to look at him.
'I hate mornings.' She mumbled, sitting up in her bed with a yawn.
Lewis smirked. 'Everybody hates mornings, Lizzie, although I can't quite see why... They are an extremely interesting part of the day...' He said, gazing Lizz's window.
Elizabeth side looked her cousin, thinking that interesting was a really peculiar adjective for morning. She shrugged, looking under the covers to see her wound: it still didn't look very good, which meant that she would have to spend another day, or probably more, stuck in that stupid bed. She sighed: five days had already gone by since the creature's attack. Apparently, no magic could be used to cure her wound and, as Uldreyin had finally (and unfortunatelly) waken up for the fact that she was already in Mearsmaine, she had now to be in constant company of the Royal Guard. Her luck? Nathaniel was in the Royal Guard and, although nigel and Lewis weren't, they were fabulous fighters, who could protect. However, there were always guards outside her doors now and if she stood too quiet for too long, they would go in to see what was happening. The results? They ended up waking up the Queen for at least five times, until she had to tell them, as nicely as she could, that, when someone sleeps, it is natural that, if they don't snore, they will keep silent.
Lizz sighed after remembering this episode. They could at least have sent me some smarter guards, couldn't they? She had actually mentioned this to Nate, two or three days ago, but the boy told her that it was better to deal with dumb guards than with Lokhart, who was Nightock's first idea for the job of guarding her door. The girl cringed when she heard this, having Daniel at her door wouldn't wake her up, it would stop her from sleeping at all.
'Lizzie, are you there?' Lewis asked his cousin, waving his hand in front of her face, while she let go of her thoughts.
'I'm not, try the next room.' She replied.
Lewis lowered his eyebrows at the Queen. 'You turn into Nathaniel when you're in bed, you know?' He told her, which made her show him her tongue, a gesture which was basically ignored by the boy. 'We are having a ruling class with my father today.' He informmed her. 'He will be arriving at any moment. I hope Nigel hurries up with the breakfast.' He added, gazing the door, waiting to see his boyfriend coming in at any moment.
Nigel did come in, while Lizz was washing her face, water spread around her, since the girl wasn't able to da that without almost taking a complete bath. She looked at the brown haired boy walking through the door, a tray with her beakfast on his hands and his face very pale. Elizabeth lowered her eyebrows at him, asking he was sick.
The elf shrugged and said he wasn't. 'A terrible liar, that's what you are.' She told him. 'Have you caught a cold?'
Nigel smiled at her, handing the girl her breakfast. 'No, I didn't catch a cold. I'm fine.' He told her, looking the girl in the eyes. After that, he kissed Lewis, ignoring his worried look, and left the room.
'What's wrong with him?' Lizz asked her cousin.
Lewis looked at the blond girl sitting on the bed. 'You're very annoying today.' He told her. 'Didn't he just said that he was fine?'
Lizz lift her eyebrows at her cousin and, putting a piece of cake in her mouth, she said: 'You two realy are perfect for each other: you're both awful liars. Tell me what's going on with him.'
