My name is Avery. In my case I think my parents named me that on purpose, because compared to my sister I'm average. In fact, that's what people at school call me, average Avery. You get used to it after a while. Don't get me wrong, I love my sister. I'm just tired of people not knowing who I am. Not knowing my name. Everyone but my friend Becky calls me Amanda's little sister. Not Avery. Not even the people in my class call me by my real name. I'm starting my first day of high school today. By the end of the year people will know who I am.
"Come on, loser, we're gonna be late!" My sister called. Ok I know she called me a loser, but trust me, she's kidding. My sister and I have a great relationship. I'm just jealous of her. Only a little bit. Ok a lot. She's everything I'm not. But, like everyone else, I got to love her.
"Hold on, control freak, I'll be down in a minute!" I yelled back.
I heard her chuckle from downstairs. She calls me loser I call her control freak. That's what she is. She always has to be in control. But since she's my ride to school I have to listen to her. I hurry down the stairs, say goodbye to my parents and run out the door. Time for a new chapter of my life to begin.
