Chapter 8: Gone

Barry wandered into the lab room where Harry was working on the equation.  "Perhaps I can help?"  Harry turned to look at Barry.  "Oh no.  I'm almost done.  There's just this one piece missing...  Why can't I pinpoint it?"  He let out a low growl and swatted some papers off of a nearby table.

Barry took a deep breath.  "Look Well's.  I promised you I will help you get your daughter back.  But in order for me to do that, you have to let me help you."  He said stepping up closer to the man to get a look at the equation.  Harry glanced over at Barry and nodded.  "Give it a try."  He handed Barry the chalk and left the room to calm down.

Barry watched as Well's left and sighed.  He knew that Harry wasn't their Well's.  But with him being the Doppleganger he couldn't help but think different things. Harry claimed to be nothing like him.  But in a way he was.  Barry knew he still has secrets. Just like their Well's.  He turned his attention back at the equation and continued to study it.  He was about to test something out and write in a section when Cisco's urgent voice caught him off guard.

Barry sped into the other room and instantly could tell something was wrong by Cisco's expression.  "He has Henry.."  Cisco said going pale.  "Iris called..."  Barry went pale at the words.  "Who has Henry?"  He asked even though he already knew the answer. 

Barry sped into his suit and made his way back to the house.  "Iris.."  He quickly rushes to where she was sitting at the table and gently pulled her up to him wrapping his arms around her.  "I..  I went to check on him while he was napping..  And..  And I found this.."  She said with a shaky voice holding the note out to Barry.  Your son in exchange for speed.  Was all it read.

Barry sped Iris to the lab so she was with at least Cisco, Caitlin and Harry.  "Stay here."  He commanded.  "What's going on?"  Harry asked stepping in.  "Zoom has my son.."  Suddenly Barry hears his phone message beeping and opens it to see it was from an unknown recipient.  He opens the message to see the video of his son locked in the cell. 

"Damnit!"  Harry growled.  "He's on earth 2.."  Barry closed his eyes.  How the hell was he going to get there?  "Wait.  You said Cisco has vibe powers!  Cisco..  You can send him the message.  Tell him to bring back my son and I will give him my speed."

"Barry I'm sure there's..."  Caitlin began to say but Barry cut her off with a wave of his hand.  "Another way to save my son?  No.  There isn't Caitlin!  If there was I'd of thought of it!"  He hissed a little not meaning to.

Cisco closed his eyes taking a deep breath.  He wasn't exactly sure he could do it.  He wasn't used to his powers yet.  He couldn't control them.  They happened on a whim.  But he knew he needed to get Henry away from Zoom.  He kept his eyes closed concentrating as best he could.  Suddenly an image came to mind of the cave where Zoom was in.  He stepped closer to the figure feeling suddenly nervous.  He needed to remember he wasn't really there.  He was just a mirage.  "Barry sent me here to give you a message.."  Cisco said.  Zoom turned around and smirked behind the mask.  "Bring Henry back to Earth 1 and he will give you his speed..."  Zoom seemed to ponder the deal for a moment then nodded.  He had a whole other plan planned out.  But this was the only way he would get his speed for now he knew.  Once Zoom gave the go ahead, Cisco's image faded.  He barely was able to get any words out when Zoom sped in with Henry in his arms..

Iris took a deep breath.  "Henry..  You're okay.."  "Mommy!.."  He called out.  "Hand me my son and I'll give you the speed!"  Barry hissed at the masked figure.  Zoom still seemed hesitant.  But he slowly walked over handing Henry back over to Barry.  Barry wrapped his arms around his son hugging him close as he felt Henry's arms wrapped around his neck.  "It's okay sweetie.  You're safe.  Go with mom and I'll be right behind you.."  He whispered.  He slowly handed Henry off to Iris.  "Get out of here now.."  He said quickly.  "Barry..."  She said quietly.  "Iris..  Please.."  He gently rested a hand on her shoulder.  "I'll be right behind you.." Iris left quickly and Barry turned his attention back to Zoom.

Harry got what he needed to get ready to give Barry's speed over to Zoom as Barry began to run on the treadmill.  After awhile, he began slowing way down and suddenly felt himself slip off and land hard on the floor.  He took a deep breath as he felt Caitlin rushing over to him and grip his arm to help him up.   "I'm fine.."  He muttered trying to shrug Caitlin off.  Caitlin slowly backed away.

Once Barry's speed was caught into the vile, he took it to hand it over to Zoom.  "I give you this, then you need to remember that my family and friends are off limits.  Don't come back here.  Got it?.."  Barry warned before handing the vile over to Zoom.  Zoom took a step towards Barry and gripped his hand around his throat.  "How dare you threaten me..."  "No!  Stop!"  Caitlin called out.  Zoom glances over at her.  "Please..  You have what you came for..."  Zoom stood a moment longer before dropping Barry on to the ground and sped off.

Cisco and Caitlin rushes over to Barry.  "I'm fine."  He muttered again.  "Barry.  You're not fine.."  He stood up giving a slight shake of his head.  "I..  I need to get back to Iris.."

The three of the Star labs members looked at each other with a worried look as Barry exited out of the lab room.  "Barry!"  Iris rushed to him wrapping her free arm around him.  She was still holding Henry close.  Barry wrapped his arms around the two of them.  "It's alright.  I promise."  He whispered as he hugged the two of them close. 

After Henry was finally asleep, Iris came downstairs sitting next to Barry on the couch.  "He's finally asleep.  I'm not sure how long it'll last.."  Barry wrapped his arms around Iris.  "It's my fault.  I was too focused again..."  He began.  Iris hugged Barry tighter.  "It's not your fault Barry."  She whispered.  "It would've happened whether you were here or not."  He closed his eyes.  "Are you doing okay?"  She stayed silent a few minutes.  "I will be.  Once I know Henry is completely safe...  And you..."  She says glancing up at him.  He leaned forward giving her a kiss on the forehead.  "I'm going to be fine."  Barry and Iris stayed as they were, finally drifting off to sleep.  Barry was quite restless.  After what had happened, he couldn't quite get his mind off something.  He wasn't sure what.  But he would figure it out whatever was bothering him.  Something about Zoom seemed familiar.

He slowly crawled off the couch not to wake Iris then walked upstairs quietly to make sure Henry was still okay.  "Daddy?"  Barry turned on the light and slowly walked into the room.  "Henry?..  I thought you were asleep.."

"I can't sleep.."  He muttered.  Barry went to sit on the bed next to his son and wrapped his arms around him hugging him close.  "Everything's okay now.  I'm not going to let anything else bad happen to you.  Or mom.."  Henry gave a small nod as he rested his head on his dad's shoulder.  "He told me he was going to show me his boat..."  He said gripping his arms around his dad's neck tighter.  Barry's heart suddenly pounded.  Of course!  Boat..  He closed his eyes letting everything sink in.  He knew who Zoom was..  "What did you say?"  He asked glancing down at his son even though he had heard the first time.  "His boat daddy. He was going to show me his boat.."  Barry took a deep breath.  It's Jay..  Jay Garrick was Zoom...
