Chapter 13: Defeated

Once Barry made it back through the breech with his son, he kept his arm wrapped around him to motion him back up to the lab. "Henry!  Barry!"  Caitlin cried seeing that they were finally back.  "Where's Zoom at now?"  Barry asked walking over to the computer table where Caitlin was sitting.  "Take Henry back to Iris.."  Caitlin looks at Barry with a worried expression wondering what he was up to,but nodded, this time not asking any questions.  "Come on kid.."  Caitlin said motioning for Henry to follow her.  Henry looked at his father worried.  "You'll be okay right?"  Barry looked over and walked towards his son placing a hand on his shoulder.  "Of course I will."  "I want to help..."  Henry said looking at Barry.  "I can use my speed to defeat him.. I've been listening to your conversations..  WIth Jay becoming weak..  What if I gave him my speed..."  Barry sighed a little.  There was no doubt he could see that his son was strong like his mother.  "No Henry..  It's dangerous. Plus your mom is worried about you.  Go with Caitlin back home.  I'm always right behind you remember?"  He smiled.  "I'll be back as soon as I can..."  Henry hesitated some more but slowly nodded hugging Barry before he let Caitlin take his hand and walked out of the room to go with her.

Barry walked over to the table where Caitlin had the viles of Velocity 9 stored.  He stared at them for awhile wondering if it was really a good idea.  But without his speed, there was no other way to defeat Zoom.  He closed his eyes for a moment before taking some of the viles and drinking the substance. He grinned a little as he felt the speed flowing through his body.  He of course had made the decision to hang up the suit before all of this had taken place, before he had the threat from Zoom and given him his speed.  But he would have been lying if he didn't say that he did miss the speed, the feeling.  He smirked a little as he felt the speed force continuing through his body.  He then took off speeding to where Zoom was waiting for him. 

"Looking for me?"  Barry said with a smirk as he sped past Zoom standing in front of him.  He was certain that if Jay had his mask off, he would see a shocked expression form on his face.  "That's impossible.."  Zoom said with an angry voice.  "One thing I've learned to expect from all this?  Nothing is impossible..." Barry sped up closer to Zoom gripping him by the throat.  All he needed was enough speed to get Zoom back to the lab, where the rest of Velocity 9 was waiting for him.  Zoom seemed to be very caught off guard, which gave Barry the upper hand.  "How did you do it?"  Zoom asked as Barry had him pinned back against the wall.  Barry gave him a small smirk to let him give a chance to let it sink in...  "You're a lot dumber than I thought..  You'd be willing to take a substance that will make you sick, to defeat me?"  Zoom laughed.

"It will be well worth it."  Barry said through gritted teeth.  As he felt Zoom switching position, Barry kept a tight hold of him speeding the two of them off to Star labs..

"Henry!"  Iris cried as Caitlin and Henry had reached the house.  Henry quickly ran to Iris hugging her.  "Mom!"  'Are you okay?" She whispered.  Henry hugged her tight.  She glances up at Caitlin. "Thank you for bringing him back."  Caitlin nodded.  "I should get back to the lab.."  "I'm fine mom.  Dad...  I should of stayed to help him..."  "Barry will be fine..  Come with me.." Iris stood up and extended her hand for her son to take.  Henry took his mother's hand and followed her into the kitchen.  "I'm not hungry.."  Henry stated..  "You should eat something..."  Iris said looking over at him.

Once Bary had sped the two of them into the lab room, he still had a tight grip on Zoom, but he needed to get the Velocity 9 and somehow, find a way to give it to Jay.  As Barry had let himself get a bit distracted, Zoom had found a way to pivot and switch positions, slamming Barry hard against the wall.  "Wait stop!"  Barry glanced up surprised to see Caitlin there.  "Caitlin.."  Barry said through gritted teeth. "I thought I told you to leave..."  Caitlin quickly rushed over to the two of them.  "Jay please..  Please don't hurt him.."  She whispered.  Zoom seemed to stall a moment, getting side tracked hearing his former name, the voices allowed to get inside his head..  Seeing the opportune moment, Barry nodded towards Caitlin..  In a way he was glad she was here, he had some assistance.  "Now Cait!"  He called out nodding his head towards the viles on the table.  He quickly whipped the mask off of Jay's head as Caitlin went to grab the few viles on the table and rushed over handing them to Barry.

As Barry had to let go of Zoom to open the viles, it had given Zoom a chance to move positions to get a good grip on Barry.  But before he could do so, Caitlin realized what he was about to do and grabbed a hold of him pinning him to the wall.  "Barry hurry.  I don't know how much I can hold him.  Jay glared at the two of them.  "You really think that giving me Velocity 9 is going to work in defeating me?"  He laughed.  "If you want to give that to me.  You'll have to catch me first.."  He grabbed the mask placing it back on his face.  "Catch me if you can..  Flash.."  He quickly speeds off..  "Damn!"  Barry muttered.  Barry, without hesitating, drank the substance from the viles.  Caitlin sighed.  "Barry..."  "I'll be fine Cait.."  He quickly speeds off to chase after Zoom, following the blue light speeding through the town.

After a while, Barry finds himself being stopped in the middle of the bridge..  "You think you can stop me now?"  Jay smirks behind the mask.  He makes the ground shake a little and the bridge starts to fall apart putting a huge gap between him and Barry.  Barry takes a deep breath eyeing the opening of the bridge that separated him and Zoom.  "Barry.  It's too dangerous!  The velocity 9 is starting to wear off!..."  He heard Caitlin saying into the mouth piece.  "Caitlin, I have to try..." Barry backed up as much as he possibly could so he could gain the right amount of speed he needed to jump over the bridge.  Once he thought he was ready, he took a deep breath and began to make a run for it towards Zoom.  Zoom continued laughing as he watched, then took off at top speed as Barry had caught up to him.  Barry sighed a little stalling momentarily as he realized he made the jump.  He was about to rush after Jay, when a blinding light hit him.  He closed his eyes covering his eyes with his arms, only peaking through slightly to see that Jay had suddenly deteriorated into thin air.  Once the bright light had gone, Barry removed his arm to look at the spot where Jay had been standing, looking shocked for a moment seeing the small dust pile to where Jay had been.  "Barry?.."  He suddenly realized Caitlin had been trying to catch his attention for the last ten minutes.  He grinned a little to himself..  "It's okay Cait.  I'm fine." 

Barry sped back to the lab, feeling himself crashing against the wall as the Velocity 9 had worn off, feeling extremely tired suddenly.  Hearing the crash, Caitlin jumped, and got up to rush over to him, realizing it was Barry.  "Barry.  Are you alright.."  He glances up at Caitlin and gives her a smile.  "I'm fine.  I just need rest.."  He muttered.  "He's gone.  Zoom's gone.."  Caitlin smiled and gave Barry a quick hug.  "Here, let me help you.."  She reaches for Barry's hand to help pull him up then walks him over to the small slab of table to check on his vitals.  As Caitlin was getting Barry checked, Barry grabbed his phone out of his pocket to dial for Iris' number.

"Barry!"  Iris called after him once her and Henry had reached the lab room.  She quickly rushed over flinging her arms around him.  Barry smiled seeing Iris and Henry, then wrapped his arms around iris to hug her in return.  "I'm fine.  I promise.."  He said quietly as Iris hugged him tight.  "I was worried about you.."  She said quietly.  "You shouldn't of taken the..."  But Barry held up his hand to stop her.  "I'm perfectly fine.  Caitlin already tested my vitals to make sure.."  He said leaning in to give her a quick kiss..

"Um.. I'm still here!"  Ten year old Henry exclaimed closing his eyes as his parents kissed.  Iris and Barry turned their direction towards Henry.  Iris laughed a little.  Henry walked over to his dad and sat on the table next to him.  "So Zoom is really gone for good?"  Henry asked.  Barry smiled wrapping an arm around his son.  "He's gone for good.  Henry leaned in slightly to hug his dad resting his head on Barry's shoulder.  "And I meant what I had said before.."  Barry said looking back up at Iris.  "It was a good run.  Being the flash..  But I think it is time to focus on the three of us.."  He smiled.  Iris smiled back wrapping her arms around both Barry and Henry.  "Come on.  Lets go home.."
