Chapter XXIII: Cruel Incidents

"And it's in! Congratulations white team! And to their team captain!" We all bounced up and down with glee from that fantastic spike coming from Jordan. Way to finish the game!

We all exchanged high fives and people stared pouring water down on us as a way of celebrating. We all grabbed our towels and wiped our hairs.

"Let's head to the basketball court to see who won?" Jordan invited as everyone exited the volleyball to exactly head to the basketball court. As we made our way to the bleachers, people were congratulating us. I guess people are slowly forgetting the thing about Hemmings and I.

As we sat down, we could see Hemmings running from his court to the enemies court. Dashing through all the players trying to stop him. His movements seemed so effortless, behind this jack of all sports is someone who is afraid of worms.

"Hey, Luke's hot, huh?" Jana, one of my teammates elbowed me and I turned to her confused I ended up laughing because I realized what she just said.

Jana was laughing with me too, she must have been confused by my reaction.

"Luke? Hot? Damn. I don't know." I answered nearly hurting my stomach, "I think I might have abs after this." Jordan who was next to me heard it and started laughing too. We didn't even watch the game anymore, we just ended up conversing with each other.

"Coming to the after fest party?" Jordan asked as she was chugging down her red Gatorade. I looked at her confused, is that some sort of new thing?

"Huh? What's that about?" I wondered my eyebrows furrowing in curiosity. She placed her drink aside and started to explain to me.

"It's a new thing that the school council came up with. It's a celebration party for all our hard work, it'll be held in the Blue Resort!" She explained excitement filling her eyes. I can't help but feel excited too because of her reaction. But I don't know if I should come.

As much as possible I'm avoiding school and the whole student body is going to be there.

"Don't tell me you're not going again? Come on, you worked hard! You deserve it!" She praised shaking my right shoulder, trying to convince me. I let out a sad smile, do I really deserve it?

Jana must have heard Jordan's convincing so she turned her attention to me too, from the game.
"Hey, you're coming!" She forced and held me by my left arm too. I laughed out loud, from all their grips.

"I'll think about it, guys." I answered their request. More like forcing but yeah, sure. They both gave me a poker face, as if they're not satisfied at my answer.

"I'll drive you if I have to!" Jordan offered as she let out a pretty please smile. I giggled intentionally exchange for her pretty please. I can't let her pick me up from Hemmings' home. I'm dead if she finds out I live with that idiot.

"Okay, I surrender! Just pick me up in the 7/11 near Marf Heights." I agreed raising my hands up in the air. They both exchanged high fives and cheered at my sudden agreement. Anyways, I don't even know where the Blue Resort is.

As I turn back my attention on the game, Luke was dashing through the court. Zooming from left to right since the last seconds, were approaching fast. I gripped on my seat feeling tensed.

And dunk, there he goes earning their winning point! Everyone jumped off their seats and cheered and waved their hands in the air. While, the Yellow team all sat down sad. Losing to the red team twice.

Everyone in the red team, including Miranda ran towards the basketball players and pounced on them. The basketball games have always been the focus of this Sports Festival. Everyone started exiting the gym and the red team were the only ones left.
