AN - This chapters dedicated to DystopianLoverxoxo Longer chapters coming! Yay for zombie apocalypse preparedness! This chapter is probably junky since I typed it while doing my homework.
When you black out after getting your arm nearly torn off by a giant mutant hell dog, the first things you'd usually say are: 'I'm alive' or 'How the hell did I survive that?' or maybe even 'Ow! Why does this hurt so much?' But honestly I'm not that sane.
"Gah! Turn off the damn lights! I'm supposed to be dead!" I whined turning onto my side getting comfortable. My eyes bugged out as pain shot up my arm. Wha- How can I feel that? I flipped onto my back to reduce the pain in my shoulder.
I stared up at the ceiling of a car, confused but relieved. "What the hell?" Carefully, I sat up and looked around, eyeing my surroundings warily. Apparently, someone had hauled me into the back seat of a hummer, how, I really don't know. Outside the car windows I saw a small camp of sorts, built in the wreck of a hospital lobby. I scratched my stomach absentmindedly thinking, as I slowly realized my shirt was gone. "Uh-"
"Glad to see your awake!"
"OH GOD!" I yelped falling back onto the black leather seat. A small fit of laughter erupted from the front seat of the hummer. "Man, you seem like your all back to normal! No screaming, no moaning or groaning!" The blue eyed girl observed happily.
"What the fuck is going on!?" Bolting, upright I turned to glare at her. She just blinked, twisting her hair around her small finger. I wracked my brain trying to remember some important little detail.
"A-Adelaide right?"
She beamed brightly blowing her dirty black curls out of her face, and rested her head on top of the seat. "Yes." She stated simply. I looked at her oddly, contemplating her expectant gaze. "Well..." She encouraged. "U-um. T-thanks I guess." It sounded more like question coming from my mouth.
"For..." She smirked as I stuttered. "W-well, Um I guess for s-saving me." This felt weird, being pressured by a nine year old. "There that wasn't so hard!" I nodded reluctantly. Turning my head, I observed the small campfire burning out side. "You did this?" I asked not looking at her. Adelaide followed my gaze. "Yeah pretty good huh? It was a bit hard trying to park the car inside the building wreck but-" I swiveled my head towards her. "You drove this car?"
She looked annoyed at the interruption but nodded full heartedly. "Yup!"
"You made that camp? And started that fire?" I jabbed my thumb at the window.
"Mmmhm."
"And you patched me up?"
"Yeah!"
"And dragged me into this car?"
"Bingo."
My mouth hung open and for once in my life I was speechless. For a few minutes I switched from staring outside then at Adelaide, back and forth. She was beaming at my stunned face and continued to twirl her hair. "Y'know you should really grab a shirt." She mumbled snickering, turning her body to face the windshield.
I looked down at myself, shocked to see I was only wearing some baggy shorts. "Gah!" I moved my arms around my exposed chest. With a chuckle Adelaide opened the car door to jump out. "Wait there. I'll find you something." She turned and ran down a random hall to the left of the hospital lobby. I could feel myself blushing in embarrassment. I searched the car to find anything that I could use for cover, but it was pretty much bare. I groaned internally and wrapped my arms around me waiting for Adelaide to find something decent.
