What I See

For as long as I can remember I've worn glasses. My parents had gotten me into the habit of putting them on as soon as I woke up. It was a little irritating. Even if I had them on, they would ask if I had my glasses on. I would keep my anger under control and say yes.
I don't know why they had me wear them. I can see just fine. But they've always told me to wear them. So I do. Without complaining.
I did that for a whole twenty-three years. No kidding! They would call and ask if I had them on. They once woke me up at like four in the morning. I did get p*ssed when they did that and I yelled at them. That's when they stopped calling. I was glad but kind of angry. They should have stopped calling long before that. But I got over it soon and went on with my life.

Beep! Beep! Beep!
I turned off my alarm and stayed in my bed for a few more seconds, savoring the heat before getting up. Yawning, I grabbed a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. I shivered as I started downstairs. My house was an iceberg.
I poured myself a cup of joe and drank it with a large amount of creamer. Sighing, I finished my drink. Putting it in the sink I grabbed a granola bar and walked out the door.
It looked like it was going to rain. I got in my car and slowly backed out of the driveway.

I was surprised so little people were on the road. Looking in my rear view mirror I thought I saw someone in the back seat. It looked like a young teen wearing what looked like a demon mask.
I slammed on my breaks and turned in my seat. No one was there. Taking a deep breath I shook my head, telling myself it was just my imagination. I started driving again.

Upon arriving at my college I hadn't seen anything else. I felt much more comfortable with that. As I got out a couple of my friends passed me. I smiled and closed my door locking my car.
"Hey guys" I said grabbing Gabby's shoulder.
She whirled around smiling. "Hey Derek, where's your glasses?" She asked poking the bridge of my nose.
It was only then that I noticed I'd forgotten my glasses. "Oh sh*t!" I exclaimed hitting my head. What was I gonna do?! "D*mn it! I don't have enough time to head back either!"
"Dude, calm down" she said chuckling. "All we have today are tests. Nothing on the board."
I sighed smiling, "thank the lord." I breathed.
Gabby wrapped her arm around my neck and we began walking. Looking down at her I felt my shoulders burn. She was absolutely beautiful! Inside and out. I've wanted to ask her out since high school but was always too shy to ask.
As we walked I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye, but when I turned my head there was nothing. I stuck out my lower lip but said nothing.

My classes weren't that bad and nothing much had happened. I feel like I probably failed my biology quiz, but other than that I think I did well.
At the moment me and my best bro were heading to lunch. He had just moved to town a year ago. We had grown pretty close.  When we came to the mess hall I felt my heart jump into my throat.
The lunch was made up of organs. We were supposed to be having spaghetti and meatballs. All I saw was some intestines and eyes. I felt sick to my stomach.
"Dude you alright" Vincent asked. "You look like you're gonna barf."
Watching people eat only made it worse. "I'm gonna go. I feel like crap." With that I turned and left.

When I was driving home I saw that kid in my mirror again. I turned around again and saw red smoke and he was gone. I went a little over the speed limit.
I wanted all of this to stop! I was scared sick and everything looked like something out of a horror movie.
I would see giant creatures climbing walls. People bleeding from their eyes. Cars became living monsters.
When I got home I rushed inside. Everything seemed normal.
A little too normal. Too calm. Too quiet.
I slowly headed upstairs to get my glasses. Then it started. The walls started seeping blood! I could see faces in the walls with frozen screams. I screamed myself and ran for my room. What was going on?! I wasn't safe anywhere!
When I got to my room I slammed and locked the door. I took sharp ragged breaths. And went over to my dresser. I picked up my case and took my glasses out of it.
I looked into the mirror and froze. The demon teen was there, smiling. It started coming forward. I turned around and it didn't disappear. I fumbled with my glasses as it came forward.
I put my glasses on and blinked a few times. That thing was gone. I looked out into the hall. Everything was back to normal. I looked outside. Nothing creepy was there.
I took the glasses off and watched as the blood, creatures, and that demon thing came back. I yelped and put the glasses back on.
I didn't know what was going on but decided to keep it to myself. Though eating has become extremely gross to me. Things aren't that normal for me anymore. Every time I take off my glasses that demon kid shows up. I've gotten used to it but there is no doubt in my mind that I'm not a a little scared.
