QUICK NOTE TO READER: In this story, you are a fast runner. Not as fast as Sonic, but still, you're pretty fast. If you are normally a slow runner or not a runner at all, oh well, you're fast now. X3

B/F/N's POV

        Three days later

Sonic and Shadow are feeling much better today. I have been waiting until they recovered to show them around, although I still haven't explained what I meant when I said, "show you around the planet." In fact, I was later told by Y/N that I actually wasn't supposed to say anything about that to them yet. Oops. Oh well, your can't change the past... unless you can time-travel, but it's not like any of them can do that... right?

Anyways, the hedgehogs are feeling much better. They have recovered very nicely, and I am glad that they are out of bed and moving around. No, really, I'm very glad they are out and about. Y/N is, too, and you may be thinking, 'They're just hedgehogs. It's not like it takes a lot of effort to care for them, right?'

WRONG!!! I swear, I have never seen so many objects flying across a room in my entire life. They were throwing EVERYTHING: pens, balled-up paper, water bottles, blankets, EVERYTHING! If I remember correctly, one of them almost threw the bed (I wouldn't be surprised; they're pretty strong)! Honestly, I think the only thing that they didn't throw was the sink! Y/N and I were in another room, and we heard a thunk come from the room. We ran in there to find Shadow on the floor with Sonic up against the railing of his bed, screaming "NO TOUCHY! MINE!" at the hedgehog on the floor while holding a chili-dog in his hand. We figured that Shadow must have tried to take it in order to get on Sonic's nerves and ended up falling out of bed. That would explain the thunk we heard earlier.

Not only that, but we went in to check on them a day ago, and they were throwing their pillows. Well, we walked in... and Y/N was gifted with a pillow in her face, thrown by Sonic. She just threw it back at them. She was blushing, though. Sonic was, too. I think she's got a thing for him. She keeps denying it, but still...

Anyways, Y/N, Sonic, and Shadow decided that Y/N would race the blue hedgehog today. Honestly, I have no idea why they would want to do that, but whatever. Y/N is pretty fast, not as fast as Sonic, but she is one of the faster people I know. We went to the forest to start the race. It is mostly flat, and there are not many obstacles. This is going to be fun!

Y/N's POV

Today, I am going to race Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. I am a pretty fast runner, but I don't recall ever moving at the speed of sound, much less faster. I would be lucky if I was even three meters over the starting line when he finished. There was no way I would win this, but, just for fun, I was going to do it anyways. Sonic was already stretching off to the side. The course itself is actually pretty smooth and easy to navigate.

First off, there is the starting line. We run from there down to a tall tree about a fourth of a mile away. After we reach the tree, we touch it and run back to the starting line. There are a few branches and other small items littering the ground. Other than that, it is a clean run. Pretty easy, right? Not when you're racing against the fastest thing alive.

We lined up at the start. I looked over at the blue hedgehog, crouching and ready for the signal that would start us off. He looked over at me with his sparkling emerald eyes.

"You ready to race?" he asked. He was giving me that smile of his again! That same, adorable... you know what, never mind. He probably smiles like that all the time. I looked back at him.

"You ready to win?" I replied. I knew what the outcome was going to be already: Y/N, one of the fastest girls around, too slow to out-pace a hedgehog. B/F/N is going to have fun telling the news.

"On your mark, get set, GO!" B/F/N yelled out, and with that, we took off. My feet started flying across the ground, across all of the twigs strown about on the forest floor. My head was facing down. I was concentrating on keeping my feet from catching something that could cause me to fall. I was running like I had never run before. One after another, my feet came in contact with the ground. All of a sudden, I felt a rush of energy, energy that feltvas if it could propel me forward... and a rush of wind. Well then, it looks like I've lost. It at least felt like it. I guessed that the rush of wind I felt was Sonic dashing past me. I raised my head and looked up for a moment... nothing. I was nearing the tree, so I kept my head up for the rest of the trip over. I figured that I was hearing my heart beating, and I thought it was resonating up to my ears because I thought I heard something that sounded like running footsteps. Soon, I touched the tree, and I started running back, putting my head back down. I was running as fast as I could, and before I knew it, I had crossed the finish. Then, and only then, I looked up. B/F/N was staring straight at me, an amazed look on her face. Shadow just looked completely and totally shocked. I looked behind me to see Sonic standing there. Huh, why did he look so... upset?

"What's up with you guys?" I questioned them. "Did I do something wrong?" I must say, I was totally confused. What were they so shocked about?

"That... was... AMAZING!" B/F/N yelled. " You did it!!"

"Did what?" I asked. She was acting like I already knew what she was talking about... which I didn't, and that is rare. We can communicate to each other using just facial expressions. Why can't I understand her now?

"Y-you did it..." I heard Sonic say. "You... you won."

         "WHAT?!" I yelled. "B-but... HOW?!"

B/F/N stepped toward me. "I think our research was right," she said. "I-I also think that we need to tell them."

"Tell us what?" they asked. They looked very confused, and Sonic seemed to be trying to catch his breathe. Odd.

I sighed and stepped toward them. "I think it is time," I said. "I need to tell you something. Let's go back to the house. I'll explain there." With that, we walked home.
