        Y/N's POV

After the race, we walked home. "Home" was a two story house in a pretty quiet location just outside of town. Inside, there was a kitchen, big enough to hold about three to four people. Farther into the house, there was a large living room. Upstairs, there were some more rooms, mainly used for bedrooms and guest rooms. My bedroom was right next to the room we kept the hedgehogs in. Once we got home, we all sat in the living room. The hedgehogs we're sitting next to each other, waiting anxiously. Every few seconds, they would look at each other, have a short hand-slap fight, and turn back around.

        Well, here goes nothing.

"Just to warn you, this news may be a bit alarming," I told them.

"Oh, like we haven't been alarmed already," Sonic remarked. I guessed that he was indicating back to the race. He rolled his eyes as he said this..

        Ouch.

Once I could see his emerald eyes, I began to speak.

"Guys, we found you," I began. Already, they looked confused. Great.

"Found us?" Shadow asked, his ruby eyes staring straight at me.

"Yes," B/F/N chimed in. "Now let her speak!"

I looked over at B/F/N with a smile. "Thank you. Anyways, let me explain."

"B/F/N and I were out and about. Well, we saw a flash in the sky. I don't know if anyone else saw it, but we did, so we took action. We went back home and discovered that you two had been sent into space. The flash we saw must have been the Chaos Control. Did anyone mention a disturbance before you took a trip into space?"

"I don't think so," Sonic said. "I could sense something was wrong, though. I brought it up, but somebody wasn't listening." With that, he glared at Shadow. Shadow returned his gaze and turned back around.

"Well, anyways, we discovered that there was a disturbance in the energy around you. We still haven't found out what caused that disturbance. We were able to teleport you guys here."

"Our teleporting works well with humans," B/F/N said. "However, it is still in experimental stages, and we have never tested it out on creatures like you before." She looked over at Sonic. "That could explain why you didn't feel very well when you woke up."

He looked back at her with an indescribable expression. "Don't even talk about that," he growled.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I hit a sore subject?" she asked, a smile on her face.

        "...shut up..."

Things were starting to getting off topic. I had to say something. Otherwise, I might lose them.

"Anyways," I yelled. " We teleported you here. When we raced in the forest, I was sure you would win. As you know very well, something... unexpected happened. I actually beat you, the fastest thing alive. It seems crazy, but I have an explanation as to why that happened."

"Oh, really? Everyone on Mobius knows that I am the fastest, so what explanation do you have?" he asked. He had a pretty sharp tone. Man, I wish he wouldn't speak to me like that. That stings.

"Well, uh, that's the thing," I said. I didn't know how to sugar-coat what I was going to say next, so I just said it. "You two are no longer on Mobius."

With that last statement, the two hedgehogs just stared at me... and then one began to freak out.

"WHAT?!" Sonic yelled, his face now pale. "B-BUT MY FRIENDS... MY FAMILY... WHERE...?" He sounded very confused.

"They're back on Mobius, Sonic," I replied.

"If our "friends" are back on Mobius," Shadow said, crimson eyes glowing, "then where are we?"

"You two are on Earth, my home planet," I said.

"Wait a second," Sonic interrupted. "Shads, you still have the Chaos Emerald. You can just Chaos Control us back to Mobius!" His face was still a bit pale, but a glimmer of hope shimmered in his emerald eyes, and a bit of color returned to his muzzle. I wished I didn't have to say what I had to say.

"Well, uh, there's a problem," I said. Any color that had returned to his face was gone. I always hate to give bad news, but even bad news must be told.

"Guys, I hate to say this, but that isn't going to work," I said quietly.

"And why exactly will it not?" asked Shadow.

It was time. No more stalling.

"You two are on Earth now, that's why. B/F/N and I have been doing some research. Unfortunately, all natural powers that you two had on Mobius are gone."

"Wait, what do you mean gone?!" Sonic asked. He sounded very panicked and he was breathing really fast. I felt bad for him. It almost looked like he was going to have an panic attack.

"Well, I mean they're gone," I said. "Shadow can't use Chaos Control because the Chaos Emerald's energies don't work here. His natural power to use Chaos Control has been taken away. I won the race against you because you're speed was taken away. You no longer have you're speed here. Without Chaos Control, you can't go back. I'm afraid you two are stranded." I hoped I didn't scare Sonic to death. I don't need him dying in front of me. Not that he would, but still. That would be bad. I looked over at Shadow. For once, the black hedgehog looked to be almost on the verge of crying, a sad expression on his face. I then looked over at Sonic. His head was down, hand on his left ear. Oh geez, what did I do?

"...I-I don't fell very well..." he mumbled to himself, just loud enough that I could hear. He gently placed his other free hand on his stomach.

Well, he's alive. Nauseous, but alive. Good enough for me.

"So... what are we going to do then?" Shadow asked. "Are we going to be here... forever?" He sounded genuinely worried, but for some reason, he looked at the blue hedgehog out of the corner of his eye when he said this. A small smirk appeared on Shadow's face.

"Uh... I'll be right back..." he said quietly. With that, he ran out of the room.

"What was that about?" B/F/N whispered to me.

"I honestly don't know. Let's just leave it be and find out later," I replied.

"To answer you're question, Shadow, we don't really know yet. It all depends on whether your friends back at home find a way to bring you back. Until then, you're stuck with us," I said to him. He just looked back quietly. I couldn't really tell if that was a good thing, so I just kept my mouth shut. We sat there in silence for a while. Then, we got up and went on our way.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stared out the window into the vast emptyness of the night. A lone cricket chirped in a tree nearby. I stared at the stars, thinking. They must really miss their home. They must really miss everything. I thought more, until my mind could only think about one thing. His home is out there, among the stars, and so are his friends. He would never want to stay here.

        ...right...?
