Right at the time Aria is getting the vision, fifty million miles away, in Dehradun, India
Nainika Gupta was irritated. A traffic jam right when she had to reach her destination early. Why couldn't it happen when she was on her way to school instead of where she was going, she wondered. But life would be perfect if such things happened. And life was never perfect. Never ever. But sometimes, perfect timing was all that mattered. Despite life being so very imperfect.
And really unfair. So very unfair.
People always stressed about the importance of time, and yet felt no shame while wasting other people's time, withholding other people on a hot tar road in the middle of a sweltering summer. By not tending to their vehicles so that they became defunct right in the middle of the road. And caused traffic hold- ups for several other people.
Today was the day Nainika was waiting for her entire eleven year old life. This was the day of judgement, of nervousness and anticipation and fulfillment of dreams. Of life's goals being fulfilled and of attaining contentment. All this seemed a bit too grown up for a girl of eleven, but life surely was complicated if you were like Nainika. Simple and uncomplicated were the last things your life would be. For Nainika was what no one was, but every avid Harry Potter reader fantasised to be.
She was a witch.
And an Indian one at that.
Highly unusual and fascinating at the same time.
The loud honk of a Maruti- Suzuki Omni brought Nainika back to the present. The traffic had finally made some progress, and Nainika's deep brown eyes darted back to the pure blue sky as her plum Renault Kwid edged a few feet forward, indiscernible in the sea of multicolored cars.

Half an hour later, the vehicles had made little progress. Nainika was in a fix. And then she did what she was forbidden to do.
She felt that uncomfortable yet familiar sensation of being squeezed through a rubber tube, and then at last, her feet found ground, and she desperately breathed a lungful of cold air.
She performed magic accidentally.
Yet again.
Despite all her dad's warning.
Without a wand. At the age of eleven.
Unbelievable.
And then that thing happened again.
She flew into the sky just like Aria did, higher and higher, beyond planets and constellations and space, till the deep blue hue transformed into a paler shade; from pale blue to yellow and then the shade of yellow closest to white, and the her radiating body began to move forwards instead. But , unlike Aria, she was lovingly welcomed into Heaven, the muchkin at the gate welcomed her in like an old friend, and then she slowly reached a place which she had never entered before save in her dreams.
She was in heaven, and her twin Aria was in hell.
She was shocked at this piece of news. So much that she refused to believe it.
So in order to convince her, Selden took her to a meeting with God.
