I walked and walked and walked; yet the Manor Entrance Hall seemed to be just a little further. Finally I saw the huge marble steps leading to the chocolaty brown oak doors, which had a silver oxidized knocker. I didn't know what to do further, so I snapped my fingers the way Servenia had; and out of thin air a long nosed and and very defeated looking creature appeared, and bowed low. I noticed that it wore a very old and filthy crop top and skirt, which was almost threadbare.
" I is Dimpy, ma'am. Yer personal elf. If yeh require any services or assistance or food, feel free to summon me. What services do yeh require, ma'am?"
"Can you take me to a room? Please?""Sure, ma'am," Dimpy said, as she opened the doors and led me forward into a enormous hall. Wow. It was a hundred times better than I thought.
It had floor of greyish black marble, while the walls were a sharp contrast to the floor; a lovely pearly white color. There were eight twelve - foot tall Victorian windows with maroon curtains, four on either side. It had the feeling and appearance of an old church. About a hundred feet away from the porch was a flight of stairs, the way to it carpeted in silver silk. The ceiling was so high that it's presence was only given away by the presence of a large but delicate and intricate glass chandelier, whose glass pieces shone like early morning dew even at this time of twilight.
"It's beautiful," I said, surprising myself, for I never praised anything or anyone without a cause. A few hours back I had to share a claustrophobic and filthy room with seven others, and now a had a house to accommodate the entire Greenwich village, where I previously resided. Wow. Luck changed anyhow and anytime.
"Dimpy, is the chandelier made of glass?" I asked, not able to contain my curiosity any longer.
" Glass? No ma'am, glass is meant for Muggles. This chandelier has been hanging in this Manor since ma grandma worked here. Made by yer Granmuzzer Rilvie Aulis as a present to Servenia ma'am. Made of diamonds, crystals and rubies, it's beauty is protected by the Imperturbable and Anti Breaking charms. You have one in yer room too, ma'am."
" If you don't mind, Dimpy, I would love to see the house, but only tomorrow. I was on a broomstick the entire day. So I require some rest and sleep," I instructed, trying to be firm yet gentle.
At these words, Dimpy grabbed my wrist and closed her eyes tight. A few milliseconds later, I felt a felt a jerk near my neck and my feet were swept off the ground; I acquired the sensation of being tightly compressed. Moments later, my feet found ground as I desperately breathed in a lungful of cold mountain air. I was standing in the balcony of a room, whose door and windows creaked noisily, the shape of it perfectly circular, the slate grey stone weathered and moss growing in the cracks between the space between each brick. From what I had guessed, I was at least sixty feet in the air, and alone, as Dimpy seemed to have disappeared. The height seemed to explain the cause of the misty air. Up here, the stars seemed somehow closer. Then I realized something totally unbelievable, so truly unbelievable that I had to smack myself in the head to see whether this was happening. Which was saying a lot, since I had done things I had never done before: met new, strange folks with names that were unheard of; ridden a broom, found out that I was a royal girl, and most importantly, met my mother. Nothing had astonished me more than this happening.I was standing in the balcony of a tower room.
