Captain Lucas was mesmerized by the beauty of Lucy Alcott. He knew that she would be going to London soon to start her first season in court. He wanted to be wherever she would be; he would be the one to get the attention of her, not some other dashing young man who wouldn't treat her like the princess she needed to be treated like. He also knew that he couldn't be there as he would be training the new recruits that were joining the royal navy.
Impossible.
It was going to be impossible for him to even grab the attention of such a young, beautiful woman. He could see the pure hatred that the young female had for her mother when her father had told her to go and speak to her. He wanted to understand why she had this hatred for her, what the thoughts were that were going through her little pretty head. He knew that the Alcott family were troubled as the children's mother had run away with a child and obviously come back into their lives unexpectedly. He could see why this would harm such a young girl's heart to have someone ripped away from them and then they waltz back into her life like nothing had ever happened. He couldn't imagine what it would've been like to have his mother or his father walk away from him and his brothers, all he had known was a true full family, but little Lucy hadn't.
He could tell she had the manly aspect of life to her as she hadn't any sisters or the experience of a mother or a womanly figure in her life. He liked that about her, knowing she would have the brain capacity of a man yet the body of a woman. She mysterious and kept things to herself, yet he could tell they would get along perfectly if she would only let him into her little precise mind.
The need to be with her in London would grow but as his occupation needed him somewhere else he would have to visit her whenever he required seeing her or when she wanted him to have a little visit of her own.
Being a captain of the Royal Navy required him to do very little when it came to doing his job. As he was becoming older according to his superiors it meant that he would soon have to settle down into a marriage; either arranged by his parents or out of love. However not many marriages were certainly made out of love at the start, only the love developed once the pair got to know each other in time. This wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to be able to look into his wives eyes with admiration and purity of love. Not nothingness.
His parents' marriage was forced and arranged, but over the years they soon developed the feelings for each, sometimes it was through sex and sometimes it was through being in each others company. Also the fact that they produced wonderful children who would also, they hoped, love a wife or husband if they chose to marry.
As he spoke to Albert he could see that this was his last option for his son. Forcing him to join the army meant that A.J would have some sort of responsibility that A.J has never had before. Also it meant that he could finally make some friends that were men and had ambitions in life, not like his friends here who wanted to have sex with all the prostitutes in his village.
A.J was only young but he could have to find a wife soon or do something with his life before his father gave over the house and all the responsibilities that came with looking after the monstrous house.
"This will be a good opportunity for my son. He will be able to do things he never imagined he could do." Albert spoke with great pride. His son was what he was going to be depending one once he became older, so he had to start him at a young age so he would know the way of life.
"He will be looked after by my men and will be trained by me so I can keep an eye on him. I promise no harm will come to him, unless he gets into a fight which means he will have made a problem for himself." The captain wanted to see the young Lucy again before he left but he didn't know where to find her. "Your daughter, she's very beautiful." He didn't know why he has just said that to Albert but he had to get his intentions out to her father before he went and got her married off to some old, beer bellied man who didn't know the difference between his wife and a whore.
