Rosetta Lucas' life has been a pretty easy life as she was mostly like a child, but she noticed how hard life was when she turned eighteen. Her parents had set up a ball for her eighteenth birthday.
Rosetta didn't want all the fuss being put on her this year as she knew that her parents would be finding a "husband" for her. She didn't like the sound of being trapped in a marriage with someone she didn't love.
The only love she knew was from her parents and her siblings, but not from anybody else. She loved her friends, but she only loved them as friends and not as lovers; mainly because they were all girls.

Lord Albert Brimley was a twenty-eight ear-old man with one child. He knew that he had to get another wife but he didn't want one. He knew that his son need a mother, so he decided to go looking for a wife, That's' when he turned up at Rosetta Lucas' ball and he didn't want to be there at all.
He was just standing around, looking suspiciously at all the men and women who had turned up. That's when Lord Richard Lucas, Rosetta's father, announced that Rosetta was going to be coming down into the room in any second.
His palms were seating and he didn't have a clue as to why. He had a feeling in his stomach that he wanted to have Rosetta as his wife and his lover.
He never really loved his old wife, she died in child birth and he only grieved for one month. His old wife spoke only two words before she died and they were 'Albert Junior. He felt as if she wanted to call their child that and he did call their child that. A.J was now eight years of age and he always asked of his mother but he never did tell him what she was like. The only reason he didn't tell A.J of his mother was because she was a horrible woman with no heart at all and she wouldn't have loved A.J anyway.
Rosetta was walking down the stairs and then the grand doors opened. She took a deep breath and continued to walk. 'I can do this' was running through her head at the time.
When Rosetta walked through the door she looked around to see all the faces she grew up with. But there was a few she didn't recognise. She looked to the right of the room and saw the most beautiful man in the world. He wore the same as any other man in the room, but in different colours just like any other man.
Albert had noticed that they were both staring at each other, so he decided to walk over to her. He was the only man that had got the courage to walk over to her, now nobody could because he had.
Rose (short for Rosetta) saw the man walk over to her, when she felt a hand go onto her arm. She turned to see her father stood there looking at her with pride. A person cleared their throat and they turned to look at who was standing there. There stood Albert looking tall and strong.
"Lord Albert Brimley, of Brimley House. How are you my dear friend? And how is that son of yours, A.J is it?" Rose's father asked Albert. Albert was too mesmerised by Rose's looks to notice that her father was talking to him. He shook his head clearing the thoughts of all the things he wanted to do to her in his chamber back home. He thought of pounding into her while she screamed his name.
"I am very well, and so is A.J. He keeps asking about his mother and when he will get a new mother, but I don't know whether I should remarry or not." Rose looked at him thinking he was a married man because he had a son; she wanted to marry him.
"I'll have to talk to you about remarriage, if you really want it. Well, I will leave you two to talk." That's when Rose's father just walked away.
"What's your name young lady?" Albert asked Rosetta with a smirk.
"Rosetta Lucas, but mostly everybody calls me Rose. Why did you ask me with a smirk?" She was very curious as of why he was smirking.
"I do not need to tell you Miss Rose, but I would like to know if you would like to dance with me?" He wanted to feel her soft skin against his only if it were for only a second then he wouldn't mind.
"I will take your offer Lord Brimley." Albert put out his hand in a formal way, the way you asked to dance with someone.
Rose took his hand and they walked off to the dancing area. The music started to play; Rose put her left hand on his shoulder and her right hand in his left hand. Albert followed her lead by placing his right hand on her waist, wanting to go lower down but he knew he couldn't.
The music had already started to play so they had to find their place in the dance. It wasn't very bad because they both knew the dance very well.
Rose had a feeling about the lift that was coming up; she was scared that he would drop her on her eighteenth birthday. She thought of the embarrassment of a man dropping her to the floor in front of all these wealthy people, who would laugh at her, but not him.
Then the lift came, she closed her eyes when she went up and when she came back down she opened them to see him smiling at her. The dance went on very well, as did the rest of the night. Most of the guest were going straight back home or staying here. Albert was staying in the mansion because it was quite a ride back home to Brimley House.

Albert was sat in Richard's office waiting for him; he didn't have a clue what he wanted to talk about. Albert stood up when he heard the door open. Lord and Lady Lucas walked into the office. They both sat down, Lord Lucas behind the desk and Lady Lucas sat in front of the desk next to Albert but also facing Albert.
"You are probably wondering why you are sat in here." Albert just nodded his head wanting to know why.
"What we want to ask you is if you want like to take Rose as your new wife?!" New wife, thought Albert, his dreams would come true and he would get her in his bed chamber.
"You can..."
"No, I don't need to think, she's perfect. Would she be happy about it?"
"I think she will and I hope she will. Everybody was talking about the way you both looked at each other with passion, lust and love." Albert was shocked at his words. He had never felt love for a woman expects his sisters and mother.
"I shall go and get her then." Rose's mother said and off she went.
Five minutes later Rose and her mother came walking through the door. Rose wore a silk plain nightgown with an oversized robe over the top of that. Rose sat down in the seat which her mother told her to sit at. She looked at her father and then Albert, she smiled at both.
"Rose, my darling child. What would you say about marring Lord Albert?"
"Why do you ask me this father?" Rose was getting scared; she knew if she married him the she would have the weight of being a Lady, looking after a child that isn't of her own flesh and blood and also pleasing her husband and giving him children.
"We would like you two to marry!" Richard had a very big smile on his face.
"No! No, I will not marry a man who is ten years older than me. It is wrong. No!" Rose took off and out of the room to her fined her younger sisters with smiles on their faces.
"Move!" And all the sisters did.
