Heather sighed as she stepped outside. Another warm winter day.
Heather lived in Florida, winter was her favorite season before they moved to Florida 7 years ago.
How she missed snow like a lost brother. She wished the weather would finally part with her once, but that never happens.
She sighed again and took to walking down the sidewalk. Today was a Friday. She walked as fast as she could because she was already 10 minutes late.
About 20 minutes later she ran into her homeroom.
"Sorry I'm late!" She yelled opening the door and running to her desk.
Their homeroom teacher, Mr. Marsh muttered something and shuffled some papers. He had little round glasses and was balding. His nose was large and triangular.
Heather pulled her late homework from her book bag and started to finish the late 5 problems. She was rather smart but never used her mind for the right things.
Mr. Marsh kept glancing at her. Heather tried not to notice.
She finished her work and waited for the bell to ring. When it did she followed the large group of students out the door and separated with about 3 kids into another group that headed down a few hallways into the gym. They stepped into the glossy wooden gym floor. Rope hung down the ceiling this time.
The rope climb. Thought Heather.
Heather sat down and her gym teacher Miss. Viewpost. She was a large bulk women. She wore a large belt and she had ugly red hair in pigtails. She also had large big pink lips.
"Students," She said in a hard voice.
"Today we are climbing the ropes. Line up next to each rope and climb. Who ever rings the bell first gets to leave early." She yelled.
The kids cheered. They raced to the lines. Heather, was first in line at the rope in the middle of the room. She grabbed some of the rope and pulled herself up. She used her feet to push herself up the rope. She reached higher until she reached the ceiling. The golden bell hung next to her. She reached out and ring the bell. Suddenly the bell froze in mid-ring. Heather pulled her hand back and the bell started to turn blue and flecks of white snow started to skim the light blue bell.
Then the bell fell from its hanger and hit the ground, it smashed just like ice.
