"so how do you... spell? and how do you read this?" lilo sighs, closing the spell book.

taehyung takes the book from her and flicks to a random page. he can read it perfectly well, to him it was just as easy as reading english.

"you seriously can't read this?" taehyung asks, a surprised smile creeping onto his face.

lilo shakes her head.

"well, all spells and things to do with witches are written in wiccian. wiccian is a kind of language that witches are taught when their little, like how you were taught to write in vietnamese or english, we were taught to read this." taehyung explains.

"what do you mean 'kind of a language'?" lilo asks again, staring at taehyung in a complete trance.

i stop myself from laughing, lilo's facination towards something so normal to me was strange.

"i guess it's more like a code, because i can't speak wiccian. does that make any sense. like braile, you can't speak braile but you can read it, does that make sense?" i say.

lilo nods.

"then how do you actually cast the spells?" lilo asks, her eyes shining, and grinning like a kid at christmas.

i shrug.

"it just feels, natural, i guess. like lifting your arm or moving your head. but the process of learning spells is kind of strange. the only comparison i can think of is learning how to walk. once you learn how to walk, you can do it without thinking about it, right? that's basically the process of spells." i say.

lilo looks utterly facisnated.

"can you show me?" she whispers.

i laugh slightly at her expression, before nodding.

there's a very simple spell that makes a small flame at the tip of your finger, the same colour as your eyes. it's usually the first spell you learn as a child, and a long time ago it used to be used as a source of light.

i decided to show lilo that.

i put my fist in between us, and when i outstretch my fingers again, there's a blue flame at the tip of my index finger.

lilo stares in awe, her dark eyes reflecting the odd blue light.

"what was that blue dust?" lilo mutters.

"it's just what happens when you cast a spell." i explain.

"it's so pretty. is it an actual flame?" lilo mumbles, reaching her hand out.

i extinguish the fire.

"you were going to burn yourself, you idiot." i laugh.

"wha- but how did you get rid of it so easily?" lilo gasps slightly, grabbing my hand and inspecting my index finger.

"it's just as easy to get rid of it as it was to make it exist." i say, laughing again.

"why was it blue?" she asks, tapping the tip of my finger.

i feel myself tense at her question.

"it's complicated." i say, shortly.

"i've got time." lilo says, letting go of my hand.
