A/N: A young Colton Haynes as Joe ;)
That morning, Joe wasn't greeted by Manny at the entrance of the mechanics. He waited for a couple of minutes, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He'd made the mistake of staying up late after finishing his homework and participating in relaxation of the sexual kind. He desperately hoped that using Manny as a muse when he realised porn wasn't working wouldn't backfire on him today.
He decided to look for him, he didn't want to be any later. He made his way through the garage to check the reception but there was no one present, not even the receptionist. He decided to look in the changing room. He shoved the stiff door the way he'd seen Manny do it but it didn't budge. He shoved again, harder, and fell through the doorway. The sight he was greeted with was one he wouldn't forget in a hurry.
Manny stood shirtless in the changing rooms, his overalls hanging low on his hips where deep lines cut downwards in the shape of a V. He looked at Joe in surprise, but didn't move to cover himself.
"Sorry! I didn't know you were ah, dressing." Joe squeaked. He got up from the floor, grabbed the overalls he usually wore then made for the cubicle. Manny stopped him by grabbing him by the wrist. Joe gasped accidentally, Manny's warm, strong hands against his skin felt good."Miguel is here today." He muttered as if this explained everything, then took the overalls from Joe and handed him and similarly sized pair. "Put these on then meet me in the yard." With that, Manny pulled on a black wife beater and left the changing rooms. Joe realised he'd been holding his breath, and exhaled heavily. He went inside the cubicle despite being the only person in the room and pulled the curtain to. He yanked on his overalls and hurried after Manny.
Once he got outside, Manny was already tinkering around under the hood of a sleek black low rider. It was clearly modified, perhaps a custom job?
"Who's car is this? It's nice." Joe commented absent mindedly. Manny turned and did the same abswkward quirk of his lips that he'd done the day they met. Was that his version of a smile?
"It's mine." He replied and cocked his head, beckoning Joe over. They stood side by side as Manny pointed out the parts he'd modified, why he'd done it and how much it would cost to do it at the mechanics. It was incredibly interesting and like nothing he'd seen online.
"You've been doing this a long time huh." Joe smiled, turning his head to look at Manny. To his surprise, he was already looking at him.
"Since I was 13." For some reason, the information meant a lot to Joe. It was clear Manny didn't open up much."That's pretty young." Joe said, hoping to prolong the conversation. Manny nodded.
"Kept me outta trouble." Joe nearly laughed. If it had kept him out of trouble then how had he got mixed up with Diego? "What?" Manny said, sounding almost defensive.
"It's just, I guess my sister remembered you and said you were kind of a troublemaker." Joe admitted, a little scared Manny would react badly.Thankfully, he didn't. He simply sighed and carefully closed the bonnet of his car, unlike how he slammed all the others.
"That was my reputation." He said, but didn't sound as though he agreed.
"If you don't mind me saying, you don't seem like you were a troublemaker. You've been nothing but pleasant to me and you don't even have to be. I'm probably an annoying extra responsibility to you but you don't make a big deal of it." Joe rambled. When he stopped talking, he realised Manny was staring at him, surprise evident in his dark eyes.
"Heh, sorry. I do that sometimes." Joe laughed nervously. Then Manny did something even more surprising, he really smiled, as if he were actually comfortable doing it."Well, well, well. Manny Medina smiling? Call Fox news." A woman's voice came from behind the car. They both looked up to see a woman with long, curly brown hair and skin like Manny's. She was smiling in a friendly manner and pushing a pram with a little boy sat in it. Once the child caught sight of Manny he leapt out and ran unsteadily towards him.
"Tio!" The child giggled, opening and closing his hands indicating that he wanted a hug.
