"C'mon son, it'll be fun!"

Joe groaned and rolled over and buried his face in his pillow, hoping that it would deter his father's incessant requests for him to go to the mechanics with him. He was always saying that they never spent enough time together and Joe wanted to change that too but the mechanics wasn't exactly his idea of fun.

"We can get breakfast on the way." His dad offered, and immediately Joe's interests were piqued. Joe flipped back over to face his father.
"The diner?" He asked and Richard nodded. "Give me ten minutes." His dad cheered and left the room.

Once alone, Joe heaved himself out of the comfort of his double bed and stripped naked. He turned on the shower in his en suite and got in once satisfied with the temperature. He made quick work of lathering himself in cinnamon scented body wash, rinsing it away and hopping out to brush his teeth.

On the way out of the bathroom he stopped in front of the mirror to check himself out. His frequent gym sessions were starting to pay off and Joe couldn't help but grin as he saw the abs beginning to show on his stomach. He twisted this way and that as he looked himself over.

He wasn't bad looking, he had tousled, dirty blond hair that he never styled, and clear blue eyes that the girls at his high school loved. It was a shame he took no interest in them.

He left the bathroom and made for his wardrobe, donning a pair of tight, light blue jeans with rips in the knees and a pristine, white t-shirt. He ran a hand through his hair, messing it up a little more then hurried down the stairs. He slipped his good sneakers on that we're by the door, then went to the kitchen for a glass of water.

His sister Angie was seated at the dining table, reading a book. She looked up and smiled at him, then gave him the once over and raised an eyebrow.
"You look rather nice for an outing with dad." She commented. Joe chuckled and downed the rest of his glass.
"From what you've told me, there's some fine pieces of machinery down at the mechanics." He joked.

"God knows how mom and dad haven't guessed yet." She snorted, then went back to reading her book.
"Later, Ang." He waved, then left the kitchen. His dad was waiting by the door for him clapped him on the back.
"Glad you finally decided to come out with me."

Joe simply nodded and smiled back at him, then led the way to the black SUV in the driveway. They got in and Joe reached for the radio so he wasn't forced to listen to 80's classics all the way there. The drive to the Young family's favourite diner took no more than ten minutes.

The father and son sat in a booth by the window and ordered their breakfasts. Joe ordered eggs, bacon, sausage and toast while his father ordered a simple bacon sandwich. They wolfed they food down while making minimal small talk. Joe had to admit it was kind of nice spending time with his father.

"So what's wrong with the car this time?" Joe asked absentmindedly. Richard sighed and finished off his mouthful of sandwich.
"The air conditioning again. If I didn't know any better I'd say it had a mind of its own." He explained.
"Ah." Joe replied, unsure of how to continue the conversation. "You ready to go?"

His dad nodded, slapping a few bills down on the table and leaving the diner. The mechanics was a block away from the diner and when they arrived they were greeted by the sounds of bachata blasting from speakers and tools at work. Joe got out of the SUV while his father drove it into the large, open garage.
