It was around half past seven in the morning when the bashful teenager from a few days ago turned up at the mechanics. He was wearing a worn looking black t shirt and matching jeans, somehow appearing overdressed in what were clearly old clothes. Manny held his breath at the sight, it was bringing up feelings of attraction he'd working so hard to repress.

He gave himself a moment, watching the teen look around in a confused manner, as if he'd been expecting someone to roll out a red carpet for him. Manny put him out of his misery and sauntered over.
"Hi." He said gruffly, trying to look at the boy objectively. To his irritation, the boy blushed. The kid was giving off such gay vibes Manny was certain he could see the air around him taking on a rainbow hue.

"Hi, um, I'm Joe. Richard's son? I don't know if you remember-"
"It was two days ago." Manny cut him short. Joe blushed even harder, averting his eyes from Manny. He was a good few inches shorter than Manny, but that was no surprise being six foot four. He stared down at Joe as he collected himself, unable to ignore the almost shining shade of blue his eyes were.

"Come and I'll get you some overalls." Manny instructed, walking off before Joe could even agree. He was assured by the quick, unsure footsteps behind him that the blond was following him. Once they reached the changing room, Manny filtered through the overalls that were hung on the wall and picked out a pair his colleague Miguel wore that was about the same size as Joe. He chucked them at the youngster who barely caught them.

They stood their in awkward silence for a moment.
"Get undressed." Manny said curtly, then realised that would sound suggestive to Joe. "Put them on." He added, trying not to let his embarrassment show. Joe's cheeks flushed pink as he moved the pull his pants down. Manny raised his hands up to halt him, eyes wide.
"Not right here, Jesus. There's a cubicle back there." He pointed and Joe apologised in a flustered manner and hurried into it.

Manny waited for him, scuffing his boots into the dirty carpet. It only took a few seconds for Joe to reappear, wearing the same shirt under his overalls which he left a little unzipped. Manny couldn't help thinking he looked cute, good even. He mentally scolded himself, then marched out of the changing room.
"How much do you know?" Manny asked, but he was fairly sure the kid knew absolutely nothing judging from how he glanced from car to car in awe.

"Uh, the very very basics." Joe replied, apparently embarrassed.
"I'll show you around your basic car today then." Manny decided, saying it more to himself than Joe. Joe beamed and followed him outside into the yard. There were a couple of cars parked there, some belonging to the employees and some belonging to customers, waiting to be picked up.

Manny led him over to a simple Ford Focus 2010. He popped the hood and opened it up, resting his hands either side of the bonnet. Joe peered over his shoulder, as if scared something would jump out of the engine and attack him.
"You can stand here, it won't bite." Manny rolled his eyes, edging to the side a little so Joe could see. He sucked in a breath when the skin of Joe's arm brushed his own, he looked down at the contrast between his tanned skin and Joe's much paler skin.

He brushed it off and got to work pointing out all of the different components, making sure Joe was nodding in understanding at each explanation. He didn't like to repeat himself and he certainly didn't want to drag out the interaction with the teenager who was making his repressed gay tendencies push to the surface. It was an uncomfortable situation for Manny to say the least, but he knew better than to say no to his boss and Richard was a nice enough guy.

Once he'd finished, he slammed the hood shut, making Joe jump. He looked at him expectantly, and Joe stood gormless for a second then fumbled for a reply.
"That's was ver- really interesting! You explained it better than the Internet, I mean cuz I read up on some stuff online and it was good but you were more detailed. And better. And I'm rambling." He sighed.

Manny simply cocked an eyebrow at the younger male. Joe smacked a hand this forehead and groaned.
"Sorry. I was just kinda nervous."
"Nervous?" Manny asked, it was a lesson, not a first date. Then again, the kid was setting off his gaydar like nobodies business. Joe nodded.
"I guess I don't know much about this stuff."

"I know." Manny answered, unable to keep the amusement from his tone.
"Is it that obvious?" Joe laughed mirthlessly, looking up at him. Manny nodded, face straight. He couldn't help but admire Joe's high cheekbones and perfectly tousled blond hair. He shook the thoughts from his head. "That's embarrassing." Manny shrugged at Joe, then turned to walk back to the changing room

"Where are we going?"
"You're going to get changed and go home. I'm getting back to work." Manny informed him monotonously.
"Oh." Manny could just hear the disappointment in Joe's voice, but he ignored it. He didn't care that he'd enjoyed himself, he also didn't care if he hadn't. Joe was just some kid he was teaching. Manny tried to convince himself of these things, but couldn't stop the nagging feeling that he didn't quite believe it.

Manny waited again for Joe to change out of the overalls. He was taking a little while longer than before, so Manny turned around to peer at the curtain. As it happened, it wasn't pulled all the way to the other wall of the cubicle and Manny caught a glimpse of Joe in his t-shirt and tight black underwear. Manny whipped back round, his heart racing. This was bad. Very bad. Too bad it had been enough for him to notice his long, muscled legs.

Manny distracted himself by reciting the periodic table in his head, it was his go to tactic when he found himself thinking gay thoughts. It was enough to stop the waves running down to his groin. He tapped his foot impatiently as he muttered the elements under his breath. Suddenly a voice came from behind him.
"Are you whispering the elements?"

The noise had scared him out of his thoughts and he swung his fist round to his supposed attacker as instinct told him to. Luckily, once he'd realised it was Joe, the boy had ducked and was now sprawled on the ground.
"Shit. Sorry." Manny said gruffly, grabbing him and lifting him off the floor. Joe appeared shocked by being manhandled without warning, but brushed himself off and smiled weakly.
"It's okay, I'd rather the floor than your fist in my face."

Manny couldn't help but chuckle. It was something he seldom did, but something about Joe's manner amused him.
"So uh, bye." Manny said awkwardly, as was probably obvious from his lack of social graces, he wasn't really a people person. A look of hurt flashed across Joe's face but it was quickly masked by a smile.
"Thanks again, when should I come back?"

This hadn't occurred to Manny, and he fumbled, his brain delivering the first thing it thought of to his mouth.
"Tomorrow."
"Same time?"
"Yes."

They stood there for what felt like hours, looking at each other in uncertainty. Manny felt suffocated by the awkwardness, so he held fist out, and Joe bumped it. He smiled at him, flashing his straight white teeth at Manny and he'd be lying if he said it didn't make his heart falter.
"See you tomorrow."
"Mhm."

And with that, Joe left the changing room to go home. Manny paced the changing room, he didn't know what the hell to do. This kid was bringing out more of his closeted side than anyone had in years. It was undoubtedly detrimental to keeping the relative peace in his life to keep him around. He decided he'd go to his cousin Carmen's later to talk to her about the whole situation. After all, she was the only one that knew he was gay.
