A/N: I realised that a young, less rugged Colton Haynes is pretty much my exact image of Joe. So above, I give you; Joe Young. (Quite appropriately, in overalls XD)
Manny was interrupted while making his dinner by the incessant ringing on his doorbell. He balanced the spoon he was using to mix his pasta against the pot and trudged to the door. He checked the peephole and was greeted by the sight of Carmen holding grocery bags. He unlocked it and immediately took the bags from her, she followed him inside.
"Boy have I been looking forward to this." Carmen chuckled."Stealing my food or making fun of me about Joe?" Manny replied dryly.
"Both. Your cooking is to die for." Manny returned to the kitchen and continued stirring the bubbling pasta, considering adding the sauce soon. Carmen leant over the pot and inhaled exaggeratedly.
"Manny mi amor you're gonna make someone very happy one day." She grinned, then took a seat at the small table for two in the corner by the apartment window."I hope so." Manny muttered, half hoping she hadn't heard. He listened to Carmen ramble on about her rather uneventful day that she managed to make interesting in the way she told it, smiling every now and then. Despite his gruff demeanour, he really did enjoy when his cousin and best friend came over for dinner. He drained the penne in a colander over the sink, squinting as the steam rose up in his face.
He checked the smaller pot where the creamy chicken sauce was simmering and tasted it, of course it was heavenly. Manny was not only a mechanic of cars, but a mechanic of food. He set out two large bowls and divided the pasta between them, then added the sauce. He set the bowls on the placemats either side of the table as Carmen clapped her hands excitedly, then opened the fridge.
"Cerveza please!" Carmen called and Manny grabbed two, opening them with his teeth. Once he was settled at the table, the dug in. He tried to ignore the obscene noises Carmen made as she ate and enjoyed his own food, occasionally taking a sip of beer. As they struggled to eat the final pieces of pasta, Carmen finally began to talk. "So first things first. Joe is super cute, but not quite what I figured your type to be."
Manny cocked an eyebrow.
"What did you think my type was?" He asked curiously. Carmen shrugged, a look of genuine uncertainty on her face.
"I honestly don't know, I just didn't expect some kind of Hollister model." She devoured the last mouthful of pasta. "I definitely didn't think you liked guys bigger than you, not that they exist."He snorted, finishing off his own food. They sat back in their seats, satisfied with the meal.
"I don't think I have a type." Manny admitted, Carmen eyed him questioningly. "I just thought Joe was cu- good looking."
"You were about to say cute." Carmen shrieked, rocking backwards in her chair gleefully.Manny decided it best to ignore her, standing and taking the plates from the table. He ran warm water from the tap over them to get the worst of the remnants off, then left them in the sink. He sat back down in front of Carmen, rolling his eyes at the triumphant smirk on her face. He took a sip of his beer, then Carmen spoke.
"So what are you going to do about this?"He nearly choked on the mouthful of beer. He stared at her incredulously, but Carmen didn't even flinch.
"Nothing." He snapped, Carmen's expression dropped immediately. "I thought we agreed that nothing was going to be done?!" Carmen shrugged.
"Eh, that was until I saw him." She winked, then sighed. "Don't you think it's been a while, Manny?"Manny stiffened at her reference to the barren expanse of nothingness and tumbleweeds that was his sex life.
"He's seventeen." He replied sharply.
"So? That's a year off legal." Carmen groaned. "Besides, maybe if you screw him the feelings will go away."
"I don't have feelings, he's attractive." Manny corrected her.
