"August, I'm pregnant." I say, seriously. "No, that's too serious."

I look myself in the mirror. "Aug, you're gonna be a dad." I smile into the mirror, placing my hand on my stomach. "That's not serious enough."

"Aug, I'm pregnant." I say, smiling slightly, but looking myself in the eyes.

August will be here any minute, and I have to tell him I'm pregnant, when I know for a fact that he doesn't want kids, especially right now.

"I'm just gonna say it, there is no way that makes it sound any better." I mutter to myself. "Great, now I'm talking to myself."

I plop down on my bed, letting out a loud groan. "What am I gonna do?" I sigh, staring at the ceiling.

"Mae, I'm here!" August yells, and I hear him running up the stairs.

I sit up, moving my hair around, fixing it. "Hey, baby." I greet, smiling nervously.

"Hi, love. What's up?" He sits beside me and laying his head on my shoulder.

"Just chillin'. What's up with you?" I ask, resting my head against his.

"I'm tired." He answers.

"I'm pregnant." I blurt out.

"What?" He asks.

"Nothing." I say quickly.

"Whatchu' say?" He asks again.

"I'm pregnant?" I say it more as a question than a statement.

"No you not." He chuckles.

"But I am." I say.

"Prove it." He still doesn't believe.

So, I get the tests I took, all twelve of them. I took the yesterday at different times, and got the same answer on every single one. Positive.

"You was cheatin' on me?" He asks, his accent become a little more noticeable.

"No, I was faithful to you." I tell him.

"No, there is no way I got you pregnant. I used protection." He says, standing up.

"They can break. And I'm not on birth control." I admit. I never said I was, I don't know what he thought, but I'm not on birth control.

"You must'a got the cheap ones then, because they not right." He shakes his head.

"August, your child is growing inside of me as we speak. We're having a baby, so you need to grow up and help me take care of him or her." I say sternly.

"It's not mine." He stands up, pacing.

That excuse, 'It's not mine' one I've never wanted to hear it from him. "Aug, how can you even say that? I'm gonna be a mom, and you're going to be a dad, whether we like it or not." I can't believe he would do this.

"It's not mine, this relationship is done. Don't call my phone, text my phone, don't come to my house, it's completely done." He says.

"Baby." I sigh, reaching out for him.

"No." He shakes his head, then walks out.

Now what am I going to do? My boyfriend, best friend and the father of my child just walked out on us.

*August POV*

I pick up the phone, calling my mom. She'll know what to do.

Mom- "What's up?"

August- "Mae is pregnant."

Mom- "I'm gonna have a grandbaby from you!! Yay! I've been waiting for this since you and Mae said you were getting serious! She's such a lovely girl, August. She's perfect for you. And she's respectful, she'll be a wonderful mother. I should make plans for a baby shower right now."

August- "I kinda said it wasn't mine and broke up with her. I told her not to call me, text me and it was over."

Mom- "AUGUST! Why would you do something like that? That girl loves you!"

August- "I know Mama. I got scared, I was using protection to prevent it and now she's pregnant. I'm not ready."

Mom- "Don't force her to go through that alone. Apologize, you have to help. You freaked out when you thought you'd be just helping, she was probably freaking out too. Now she thinks she'll have to do it alone."

I sigh and run my hand down my face. Mama's right. And I love Mae too much to do that to her, to us and our child.

Me- "I'll call you back, I'm gonna go back to the apartment."

Mom- "Okay, love ya'. Be careful."

Me- "Love ya' too."

I get back out the car, lock it, then go back up to our apartment.

Mae is balled up in the bed, sobbing. I silently kick off my shoes, getting into bed next to her. I put my arms around her, burrying my face in her neck. "I'm sorry." I sigh.

She just keeps crying, ignoring everything I say. Until she becomes angry with me.

"No, you can leave. I can do this by myself." She pushes me off.

"Baybeh, I'm sorry." I plead, grabbing her hands in mine.

"I'm not your baby, you broke up with me for getting pregnant with your child." She jerks her hands away from me.

"I didn't mean it." I try to hug her.

"Stop." She puts her hand up, not allowing me to be any closer.

"Baybeh-" I sigh.

"We can co-parent this baby, but I can't be with you if you don't trust me." She tells me.

"You know I trust you, I was scared and I paniced." I sit down on the bed. "I love you."

"Okay, you can leave." She crosses her arms over her chest.

"How far are you?" I change the subject.

"Five weeks." She answers.

I put my hand on her stomach, the other on her hip to pull her closer. I feel a small bump under her shirt and smile. "Our baybeh?"

"So you believe me now?"

"Babe, I did and do believe you." I tell her, trying to kiss her.

She puts her hand in my face. "That's good and all, but did you not hear a word I just said? We can co-parent."

"Babe." I sigh, looking up at her. She's serious. It's over.

"August, that hurt." She tells me.

"I know, and I'm sorry, baybeh." I wipe her face. "But I want a family with you. If we weren't ready, God wouldn't have blessed us with a child."

"Aug-" I cup her chin, pulling her down for a kiss.

"I'm sorry, baybeh. But ion wanna break up. I wanna raise this baby and be a family with you." I tell her.

"...Okay." She smiles.

"Okay?" I ask, smiling at her.

"Yeah. I'm excited and I'm glad your happy." She admits.

"My wife given me my first baybeh." I smile. "I'm excited too."
