I was sworn to secrecy not to speak of the matter.

Walking through the heavily decorated doors of the throne room, I looked at the aging old man who sat upon a marble throne. "Whatever you heard, I didn't do it." He laughs a little at my poor statement of defense and I entangle my fingers together, letting my head recline into my hands.

"You're not here to be scolded this time Nydiragord. I want to speak with you about something important." I give him a strange look before asking, "Oh? What is it you want to discuss with me then?" I relax a little more seeing as how I don't have to listen to the 519th lecture on what's right and wrong along with proper behavior.

I really get into a lot of trouble...nothing I can do about it now.

"Nydiragord...I have something to say so listen well. Long ago, there were six Kingdoms." I raise a hand stopping him, "What do you mean six Kingdoms? You're really losing it. Also I don't care much for that fairytale."

He looks at me with stern eyes and a solid gaze that sent chills down the spine. "Never mind...do continue. I like this fairytale...?" He clears his throat and continues, somehow buying into my words.

"Yes. Long ago, there were six Kingdoms. The Mage Kingdom, the Warrior Kingdom, the Rogue Kingdom, the Druid Kingdom, the Ranger Kingdom, and the Sorcerer Kingdom."

"Wait. So there are six of them...what happened to the 6th one?" He stares at me again and I feel his eyes pierce mine. "I'll stop interrupting now."

"The Kingdoms lived in peace and fought against invading foreigners along side each other. But one day the Sorcerer Kingdom plotted to take over the other five Kingdoms. The reason of said intention is unknown even to this day. Plans of battle where found within the war room, each depicting secret things about each of the other five. So the kings selected a party of champions to go and destroy the Sorcerers." He paused for a moment before continuing, "I was in that party. And so where the other kings of today. We were sworn by word not to ever speak of the Sorcerers and our victory. But...it seems someone survived and took the same treasures of our Kingdoms that were used to slaughter the Sorcerers."

"Why would someone take those? And why couldn't you tell anyone?! And why do people not know of the sixth Kingdom?!"

"Nydiragord! My father and the other kings fathers' knew that if this was spoken of there would be mass chaos and the inevitable downfall of our peace and society. Do you understand why we kept this a secret? It was to protect the people."

"...Yeah I get it but how are there not stories or anything else about the Sorcerers? What happened?"

"The Kingdoms claimed the memories of people using a forgotten and forbidden magic. And what happened was, we, the current kings, used the Kingdoms' treasures to wipe out the Sorcerers. But someone has stolen all of the treasures for reasons unknown. My best guess is either this person wants them to be destroyed or...the revival of the Sorcerers."

I stood silently for a moment absorbing everything I was just told. "That's not a good thing I assume...so what's the plan there?"

"You and four others will go and retrieve the treasures for the sake of our Kingdoms and people. But I have something else to tell you and I trust that you will keep this a secret." He motions for everyone to leave except for me.

"Didn't think it was this serious..." I look at him, confused. "Nydiragord, you know I cannot have children, correct?" I look at him like he just asked me the strangest question. "I didn't know that..and I thought that was a choice. Why are you bringing this up to me?"

"Due to the fact that I cannot have children, I choose you as my successor as king. That is my decision and no one else is to know of this."

So many questions and emotions blended together that I was just left speechless. I am going to become the exact thing I didn't want to be.
