Spark's P.O.V.

______________

The very next day, I headed for the Shire. When I got there, I walked up to the hobbit hole with a mark on the door. I had only been to the Shire once, but I knew exactly which hobbit this hole belonged to. When the door opened, I heard a voice say, "Shina, my friend! How long has it been?"

"Too long, Bilbo. Too long." I replied smiling sadly. Evidently I was the first one here.

"When are the others going to get here?" I asked.

"Others? What others?"

"Gandalf told me to meet you, him, and thirteen others here for some kind of adventure."

"Of course he did. See, I'm not even sure I am going."

"We'll figure it out."

A couple hours later, the door bell rang. It was Dwalin. I was staying hidden until Gandalf got there to introduce me the way he wanted. What I mean by hidden,  was I kept the hood of my cloak up and did not say anything.

About an hour later, all the dwarves but Thorin were here, and so was Gandalf. He was waiting for Thorin before introducing me.

After the others cleaned the dishes after dinner, we were all talking, or the others were at least.

All of a sudden there were three hard knocks on the door.

"He is here." Gandalf said as it went silent and I swallowed nervously. When Gandalf opened the door, I heard the conversation as Thorin came in.

"I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way twice and I wouldn't have been able to find it at all if it weren't for the mark on the door." I heard him say. His voice was the same as I remembered, except with an underlying coldness.

"Bilbo Baggins, meet the leader of our company, Thorin Oakenshield." Gandalf said.

Oakenshield? Since when? When I knew him, it was Durin. It must be for something in battle.

As the three walked in, I felt myself holding my breath. Thorin looked around, and his eyes stopped scanning and rested on me.

"Who is this Gandalf?"

"Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Kili, Fili, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Ori, and Nori, I would like you to meet Shinia, daughter of Thranduil. Do not judge her by her father. Her mother came from Arebor." Gandalf said.

I removed my cloak and my eyes met Thorin's for a split second before I turned away, not wanting him to recognize me. His eyes told me that he was judging my abilities, like he did so many years ago. It brought back memories.

***Flashback***

Thorin and I had been talking. I knew he didn't like anyone to mess with his hair, and I decided to play a prank on him. I had set it up to where if I pulled a hidden cord, a bucket of water would dump on his head. I went to stand up, and pulled the cord. The bucket dumped and he already knew it was me. I started to run into the kitchen where Thror and Thrain were. I ran in laughing, "Help, he's going to get me!!"

Thorin came in behind me, and almost got me. I hid behind Thrain, who also knew what happened. Thorin faked going left around the table, and yes, I fell for it. At the last second, I saw what he did, but it was too late. He already caught me. He had a hold of me by the arm and spun me around. When our eyes met, it seemed like he was sizing me up, determining my strenght, then he challenged me to catch him.

***End of Flashback***

That was the look he was giving me now, without the playful challenging part.
