The smells of the bacon lured me right into the dark wood kitchen. I expected to see everyone up but to my surprise Ruby was up in red apron a symbol on it was partially visible. The deep white of the bandages were the only thing that stood out on her wardrobe.
She was stirring the bacon with a spatula as the Bacon crackled in protest. I felt the smell waft further up my nostrils. It had been forever since I had a decent home cooked meal. Living out in the woods will do that to you. My mouth felt like I was going to drown in my own saliva. I realized that I hadn't eaten since noon yesterday.
My stomach rumbled with protest as I tried to creep slowly out of the kitchen. The deep growl that emanated as a result caused me to turn around to see if Ruby had noticed. I had found that not only did she notice but she was giggling too.
I didn't know what to think of this situation only that she was still giggling under her breath. I found myself laughing for the first time since Ren's death. It felt like I found a home her with Ruby that she was forcing my soul back into its former self.
She reminded me of the good times. The food fight flashed into my mind. Now that was a fun memory. We all had fun except maybe Glynda who was a party pooper that day but hey I guess you would be mad to if someone destroyed something you worked hard to build and maintain.
"Seems Nora you need something to eat." A voice that sounded like came from behind. Weiss stood in doorway between the bedrooms and the wore her deep silver white nightgown her hair in a little of a mess.
The sound of her stomach could be heard over mine. "Seems you could too Weiss." I said between giggles. The sound of a rush of air with the smell of roses announced Ruby had used her semblance her smiling face appearing over my head. Her black hair making me sneeze as it tickled my nose.
The snot and spit went into her hair as she exclaimed "EW!" As she made a mad dash for the nearby dish rag to wash the contents from her hair. All the while she was making the sounds of disgust.
Weiss snickered as she looked at Ruby. A faint blush on her porcelain cheeks.
"Weiss has a crush!" I said in a childish tone as my hair sways as I twirled. Weiss turned her eyes on me and stamped her foot before walking toward the chair and in the room before she sat with a scowl.
I felt like her eyes drilled into my soul before I turned away from her gaze. Ruby finally got the stuff from her hair as she used a towel to start drying it.
"So Ruby tell me of why you called?"
