He quickly pushed his way out of the line and over to the door. The herds of people masked the sound of screaming coming from beyond the door.
"PLEASE! HELP!!" and no one could hear Josh's shouts either. The younger girl on the other side of the door was sobbing violently and upon witnessing the mess behind the door through the window he could see why. The fire was obviously so big that directly underneath it the ceiling had collapsed and this little girl was trapped in the room with burning embers of wood, a thick cloud of ash and a growing fire.
Josh was quick to smash the window to the locked door and shout to the girl to come over. Honestly he was confused as to why it was locked in the first place.
"I CANT!" she shouted back and Josh looked through the now open window to see a giant gash covering the girls left leg. It looked to be pretty deep and she was very pale. He nodded and stepped back slightly. Taking a deep breath he forced himself through the smashed window. Glass scattered the outside frame and the biggest shard lined the bottom. Josh was to worried about the girl to think and soon he was shuffling through the smallish gap. However he let out a gasp when he felt his skin rip and open. He had been cut by a shard of glass. It had ripped through his shirt and now red liquid was flowing down onto the door. It was a deep cut drawn across his stomach. After successfully through his breath hitched at the searing pain and noticed the already growing red staining his white shirt but this wasn't his main priority. That was hoping to get her out before the fire got to the door.
Once on the other side he grabbed her in his arms wincing slightly and ran back to the window. He forced the door open from this side and shoved the girl into one of the teachers arms who had noticed they were in there. Once the girl was safe in the females arms he fell to the floor in pain coughing violently too as the ash entered his system.
"A-Are you alright?" she asked worried, shouting over the sounds of crackling wood which was getting louder.
"Y-yeah...I'm fine! Now get her out of here! The building is falling down!" Josh shouted and she hesitated.
"GO! NOW!" He shouted and she nodded weakly before rushing into the crowd. He chocked back a sob as he slowly raised himself off the ground coughing again and stumbling slightly.
A loud ripping sound pierced Josh's ears and his head snapped upwards quickly. The fire had burnt all the wooden beams above him and turned them to black with light orange embers filling the cracks. The fire violently burning the weak timber structure directly above it.
What could've possibly started such a massive blaze? Suddenly the wooden beam above him fell and smashed to the floor loudly sending a plume of ash into the air. The fire still ripping though the wood sent Josh into a fit of coughs making his wound hurt more. A thick grey cloud of smoke was forming along the ceiling and Josh knew he would need to get out if he wanted to stay awake. The beam was in front of his body cutting him off from the mass of people getting out the school and blocking the staircase.
"fuck!" he swore looking around for another way out. There was nothing he could do and when he turned back around he noticed he was alone.
"T-Tyler?" he whimpered.
