(Short chapter)

Josh had been trying to figure out a way to escape. His hands were a dark black and he could feel it on his face and arms too although he was too weak to wipe it off. The smoke was getting thicker and his stomach was getting worse. He knew he was trapped and once again tried to shout for Tyler. But his throat had closed up and the only sound he could make was a small whimper. It scratched his throat on the way up and his lips were dry.

"h-help..." he tried to scream but it was more of a whisper.

The fire was getting bigger and had burnt Josh's uniform and skin multiple times during his attempts. The smell no longer bothered him, the air was to thin to even let Josh's mind register it. His vision was blurry and head felt stuffy. He closed his eyes and grabbed his bleeding stomach attempting to stop it. It obviously didn't help but it prevented some of the pain. He hung over limply and his feet scuffed on the floor in a weak attempt to stay conscious however his eyelids were heavy as was his body. The ash was settling in his lungs, he could feel it and another painful cough ripped its way up his throat. This one was particularly painful and he collapsed onto the floor.

He was determined to at least see Tyler again however he knew there was no way to get out and with the fire getting closer and the smoke getting lower he knew it was highly unlikely he would survive. He crawled across the floor coughing even more using his final amounts of mustered up energy to try his final attempt at escaping. He made it to the stairs for the fifth time which were still barricaded off by flames as was the end of the corridor. He tried to push one of the beams away from the others but the shear heat sent him back coughing again. This was it he was going to die here. Tears swelled up in his eyes and he felt a lump form in his throat as his last bit of hope burnt away.

"i-i love you Tyler...so much..." he winced.

Stumbling back again he walked a little further before he felt his body grow heavier. His eyes rolled backwards and he limply fell to the tiled floor blacking out instantly.
