"Star! North! Ryan!" I called out to each of their rooms, "Wake up! I have to tell you something!"
"Amber, it's 6:39 in the morning. Can we please wait a few hours or something?" North called while walking down the creaking steps that led to the attic.
"No. Everyone meet me in the living room in exactly 15 minutes."
Exactly 15 minutes later we were all sitting around the round(ish) table in the living room of Ryan's house.
"So what did you want to tell us?" Star asked.
I looked over at Ryan and he gave me a look that said 'if you say anything about me I will kill you'.
"Last night I had a dream. Well, not really a dream. It was more like a... memory." I told them everything Ryan showed me, and then I showed them the map and explained that we have to go find my mom if we ever want to finish this quest. I told them every single detail. Every second of the story. When I finished, they all looked shocked. All except Ryan. He wasn't even surprised at the last part. After a few seconds of silence, Star finally said something.
"Wow. That's... I don't know what to say."
"You don't have to say anything. Ryan does," I turned to him, "How do we get to this Fairy-World place?"
"You need magic for that. There's this... hat, that can open a portal to the Fairy World for you... if you know the write spell."
"A HAT. You're telling me that all we need to get to the Fairy World is a freakin' HAT?" I said.
"Not just a hat. It has to be a very specific hat. I can help you find it, but I will need some sort of payment."
"PAYMENT?! How about you just show us where this hat is and get it over with. You're not getting anything from me." I explained.
"Fine, fine. I'll show you where the hat is. But I can't promise you that he will be as willing as I am to give it to you."
"He? Who's he?" Star asked what was on everyone's mind.
"Well, the Mad Hatter, of course."
"You've got to be kidding me!" That Mad Hatter. The Mad freakin' Hatter. I was getting so mad I swear I could almost feel smoke coming out of my ears.
"OK, Amber. Calm down. It's OK," Star tried to reassure me, "We'll find the Mad Hatter and give him what he wants so we can have this hat and then we'll be on our way to find your mom so we can get this quest over with. Piece of cake."
"OK. But where does this Mad Hatter live?" North finally spoke.
"He's my neighbor." Ryan replied casually.
"Uh... Ryan... you don't have any neighbors. You live in the middle of nowhere..." I said.
"His house is right around the corner from here. You could see it from the window if it wasn't... you know... invisible."
"Oh, invisible. Of course it's invisible. Where else would the Mad Hatter live if not in an invisible house." I said sarcastically.
"How are we supposed to find it if we can't see it?" Star asked.
"You'll be able to see it once you get close enough, don't worry."
"OK. Let's go then, what are we waiting for?" I started walking towards the door.
"One more thing," Ryan said, "I'll just warn you that the Hatter can be a little... well, mad."
