Dylan practically floats into his apartment. Even with the weight of the mission of telling Chad about showing Jeda Taurus, he still felt light as a feather. It was strange though. Although Dylan’s whole life may usually revolved around computers and gadgets, he never had trouble with the ladies. Until Jeda that is. She was a pleasant challenge.

“How was your run?” Dylan was pulled out of his thoughts by Chad’s question. The other young man lounges on the couch with a bag of potato chips in one hand and the T.V. remote in the other.

“It was good. I bumped into Jeda while I was on the way to check out my cameras.” Dylan replies sounding as casual as possible as he sat down next to Chad in front of the TV. At the mention of Jeda’s name, Chad shifts a little in his seat.

“Oh yah? What did you guys talk about?” Even though the two had been joined at the hip for what seemed like forever, Dylan still didn’t feel quite comfortable telling his friend all the details. On the other hand, Chad may be able to give some advice.

“Nothing much. She looked kind of upset, so I took her to the swing set.” Both boys had their eyes glued to the TV as if it was the most important thing in the world and every once in a while Chad would bring a chip up to his mouth. “And I kind of hugged her…” Chad’s head whips to Dylan.

“Did you like it?” Oddly enough, Chad’s voice slightly rises in pitch at the end of the question. This catches Dylan’s attention and he turns to his friend. ‘Friends’ isn’t even a good enough term to describe the two. They had been partners for years. There are moments when both of them can match their movements in way where it’s like they’re finishing each other’s thoughts. It was surreal for them to be having a conversation and feel so confused about what the other was thinking. Dylan wondered what could be the cause of this change in their communication.

“Well, yah.” Chad raises a brow at the answer before turning back to the TV.

“I just hope you know what you’re doing man.” He says still not looking Dylan in the eye.

“Yah, me too.” Dylan says softly and gets up to go to his room. As Dylan closes his bedroom door he hears a faint sigh come from the living room.

“Hey Jeda!”

“Hi, Ava! What’s up?” Ava closed the door to her apartment and locks it up after herself. I take this time to walk over to her and lean against the wall.

“Nothing much. I’m going to the store to get a few things. Emily is running low on granola bars and I think she’s going to have a seizure.” Ava rubs her temples with the heels of her palms and let loose an exasperated sigh. “What’s going on with you?”

“I just got back from running and hanging out with Dylan.” At the mention of Dylan’s name Ava’s interest seems to be piqued.

“Oh yah? And what did you guys do while you were ‘hanging out’?” She asks and puts air quotations around the words ‘hanging out’.

“Well, I was running and then he found me, so we ran together for a bit. Then he took me to check on one of his cameras and we used the swings for a while. After that Dylan dragged me to school and we checked on the monitors. That brings me to the present where I’m telling you what we did.” I explain in one long breath. Ava listened to me carefully with a thoughtful expression on her face. But when I'm done talking she has a small smirk on it.
