chapter 12: New interest

Samantha's pov:

We were on a bus on our way to Mount Tam. I thought about what I said to his said. Why did I say Nico when Sam said 'lets go get your boyfriend?' I mean I like Zane. Right? I looked over at Nico curiously, I mean he looked a bit younger than me. Nice cheekbones, and I wanted to touch his hair. He looked lonely over there all by himself and I wanted

to go over to him but I was suddenly feeling shy.

Shy like I was when I was under Zane, it made me feel all valuable. But this was different he had me feeling this way and we haven't even had more than one convocation. I contuined to think, I mean when I first saw him I was just wow'd I guess. He looks kinda dark and mysterious and lonely, I want to

change that.

My gaze shifted to Zane, but he's fun to mess with and his hot, what would he think if I just started to give my attention to Nico. Wait, what am I saying I don't even know if he likes me and even less so on Nico liking me. What if they both start to like me over the period of this quest, what if they fight each other over me. What if they share me' 'What the hades am I thinking!?' , I mentally yell at myself and start to hit my head against the window.

"you ok?", sam asked me leaning over his seat to look at me.

"fine", I said even though if felt like my head would implode at the thoughts running through it right now.

"you sure?", he asked raising an eyebrow not believing me.

"you know about camp and stuff right?", I asked him, turning to face him.

"yes, I know quite a lot about stuff", he said smiling at me.

"do you know about nico's backstory?", I asked him, side glancing at Zane feeling a bit guilty some how.

"why not just ask him?", he answered my question with a question.

I glared at him, "cause I asked you".

"it's always better to hear it from the horse's mouth",Sam told me before he called Nico over.

Sam smiled at me as he spoke, "Nico my dear sister here wants to know what your backstory is, I think she's interested in you".

I glared at Sam as I felt a bit of a blush forming, 'did he have to use those words?'. Nico smiled at me as he started to tell me everything. For most of the ride

Nico and I talked, not just about him other stuff as well.

I opened up to him about my home life and he confined in me things that others didn't know. It was easy to talk to him, i immediately truste him. I decided that I liked him, we laughed and his hand landed on my leg.

I blushed as did he and we looked at each other as our laughter died down. His brown eyes drew me in somehow, before I knew it my face was closer to his. His warm breath fanned over my lips, my

tongue moisten my lips, my heart was beating fast. Our lips were just about to meet when Thaila screamed to the top of her lungs. Nico and I jumped apart blushing, as Angela put the bus to a

screeching holt everyone was ready for a fight.

"what is it, snake warriors?", Sam said looking out the window.

"n-no h-h-h", thaila said her face as white as a bed sheet.

"hydra", Zane said looking around for it.

"h-h-h", thaila strutted not getting the full word out.

"hundred hand ones", Annabeth said stepping closer to her dear friend.

"h-h-h", Thalia shook her head looking out the front window scared out of her wits.

"hippocampi", Percy offered.

Everyone except thaila looked at Percy for a moment all thinking the said thing, 'oh seaweed brain'.

"what? That's the only h starting monster word I know that hasn't been said already ", Percy shrugged in defense.

Everyone aside from thaila nodded in agreement letting that one go. Turning their attention back to thaila, she looked as though she was going to pass out.

"thaila what is it, we're here for you, come on tell us", annabeth said in a soothing voice.

"high very high, can't move, can't breath", thaila gasped out.

"what are you talking about, we're on a bus, no heights around", Nico said as he stood from his seat next to me.

"yes there is right in front of me, you calling me a liar!", thaila said getting angry turning towards nico.

"thaila his telling the truth we are on the bus" , I said as I stood up as well.

"we are on a bus on a cliff", thiala said pointing out the front window.

"it's road" angela said pointing out side.

"No its a cliff", Thalia said pointing out the front window again.

Everyone looked out the front window, looking back at Thalia everyone said, "it's road".

"Back up, the bus could tip over and well all die", Thalia said afraid pushing us back hard.

"Come on and sit down Thalia", annabeth said guiding her to a seat in the back.

After Thalia was calmed down, Angela started to drive again. An arrow was shoot at Angela but sam caught it as it passed him. Everyone looked at Thalia.

"We're not going and further we'll all fall over the edge!", Thalia said as she knotted another arrow pointing it at Angela, "i won't miss this time".

"I never miss", Sam said as he pointed an arrow at Thalia.

"Guys chill out", Richard said.

"She'll be fine", Sam said as his arrow flew at Thalia.

She fell back into annabeth's arms annabeth looked at Sam, "Samuel!"

"Knock out arrow, calm down", Sam said as he sat back down, "shall we continue".

Angela continued to drive that is until, something was in the middle of the empty road. It was a monster with 7 heads one of the heads breathed fire. Angela did stopped the bus a good distance from the thing.

"Well that's something, ok well Percy nico, Zane, Sam and i will handle that, could you guys stay here and watch Thalia", i suggested to everyone.

There were nods of agreements, and we got off.

"Whatever you do, don't cut off its heads", precy said to us.

I nodded as i dropped my dice and grabbed my twin swords. Sam got his dow and arrows, Percy got his riptide, zane got his shiukin and chain, and Nico got his black knife out. We ran at the hydra all at once. Percy went for a body hit, which only ended in him fighting two heads. We all followed Percy's lead trying to hit it's body, sam was the only one successful in that area.

Everyone else was too busy fighting heads. I spun and moved fast avoiding the lizard type heads of the hydra. I head Percy get hit hard, i didn't dare turn to see of he saw ok. Another head joined the two and that head that joined breathed fire. The heads moved faster than before, i was hit by one of the heads, then fire was thrown at me by another head.

I screamed at the intense heat that side the left side if my body. I rolled on the ground until i eventually came to a stop.

I heard my name being called, and a little girls voice whispering, 'loose control'.
