@Lightning_wizard : sorry it took me so long, I took a LONG break from writing. Finally got a good pic for the half-moon necklace. Anywho, here we go.
~~^--^~~ Samuel’s POV
So we were in Alaska. No one had warned me that I would have been pulled from a nice summer’s breeze to the bitter cold of winter. Thank the gods for my dad’s coat. Anyway, we all got together at a small cafe to make sure that we didn't lose anyone. We ordered coffees and juices and the like for the entire table. Richard played with the spoon in his coffee.
Annabeth was mainly sitting in a corner looking at all of us, but I couldn't help but feel her eyes on me for most of the time. Percy seemed to be glaring at a particular fork which, by the strength of the aura, could only have been the trident of Poseidon. Angela and Thalia were soulfully staring into each other's eyes.
Zane was staring very meaningfully into his coffee, sweating, his whole body clenched and tense. Nico was looking very pleased with himself, one hand stirring his coffee for far longer than necessary, while the other slinked to his side and under the table. Sam was ranting about something. A few words filtered through, words like "Thought," "Dead," How," "Me," "Sign," "Richard," and "Listening."
I wasn't really paying attention, my little trick with Momus had opened up quite a few old wounds, memories that I would have preferred to have stayed buried. People who I forced myself to forget, things I had to do, things that I've seen done. I hadn't realized how many there were until I had them all back. Four years in the present, feels like a forever. In heinsight, it's the blink of an eye.
All thinking, speaking, movement, or gazing stopped as we turned our attention to Annabeth as she cleared her throat.
"I've been thinking about this for a while now, but I just can't rack my head around it. How is it that the two of you were unaffected by the spell on the Lotus Casino? I only made it through okay with Percy going nuts right in front of me, but you two seemed completely unfazed by it." She said. I was about to comment when Sam shot out first.
"It's because of our mom. San said that since the Lotus eaters grew their flowers in moonlight, they pay tribute to her by letting her children be unaffected by the flowers." Annabeth raised an eyebrow, turning her gaze from Sam to me. I sighed.
"Okay, so that wasn't entirely true." Annabeth cleared her throat again. "Or at all. She seems to have great skill in ignoring spells that are placed on places or objects that are meant to affect people in general."
"In English or Greek?" Angela asked.
"The barrier around Camp Half-Blood, the spell on the Lotus Casino, spells that don't care who you are, they are just trying to do one thing to anyone who touches it."
"And you?" Percy asked. "Are you the same?"
"I'm better with spells that are more specific."
"Than how where you unaffected?" Thalia asked. I started fingering my half-moon necklace.
"A god blessed me so that place wouldn't effect me."
"Which god?" Zane asked, slightly annoyed, probably seeing through my round-about tactic. I fingered my necklace a little faster as my mind raced. Should I lie? What would they think if they knew? One look from Annabeth told me that lying would be a Very poor decision on my part.
"Chronos." Percy spit out his drink.
"Kronos?! The King of the Titans? The God of Time?"
"Yes, no, and yes. It seems that over the years Kronos with a K, the titan was combined with Chronos with a Ch, the primordial deity of time itself. I got the gift from "Ch" Chronos."
