Prince Charming
(Scene: A throne room decorated beautifully with several doors that exit to off the stage, maybe add a large clock and a tiled floor, make it look grand and beautiful)
(Characters on-stage are King Charming and Tom – added characters might be on stage too)
Narrator: King Charming is sat on his beautifully decorated throne; he truly does live the rich life… He is however worried, you see his son is his only son who he loves dearly but… he’s worried you see, his son isn’t interested in dating… or marriage. Speaking of Prince Charming…
King Charming: WHERE IS HE?!
Tom: The Prince?
(King Charming looks at him)
King Charming: (Sarcastically) No… THE CAMEL I ORDERED!
Tom: Oh… I didn’t know his majesty had ordered a camel…
(The King looks at Tom again)
King Charming: Are you stupid?!... Don’t answer that…. Just go look for Prince Charming!
(Exit Tom)
King Charming: (to the audience) I don’t think Tom will find Prince Charming; it took him AGES to find the door! I really worry about my son! I don’t want him to be alone and there will be no one for Prince Charming pass my throne down to.
(Enter Tom and Prince Charming)
Prince Charming: Sorry father! Tom mistook The Highway Man for a poor man
King Charming: Well… what happened?
Tom: Well Prince Charming went all… (Prince Charming elbows him) never mind your majesty
(King Charming rolls his eyes and looks at Prince Charming)
King Charming: Where have you been son?
Prince Charming: Nowhere… just playing with myself
King Charming: About time you did something manly…
(Prince Charming and Tom look disgusted)
Prince Charming: I was playing darts…
(King Charming laughs)
King Charming: If that’s what you want to call it…
(Exit Tom)
King Charming: Son! You need to find yourself a wife! I want to hear the pitter-patter of little feet! It’s been years since we’ve had children in this palace! Bella is available!
Prince Charming: There’s a reason why she’s available.
(King Charming rolls his eyes)
King Charming: I’m sure she’ll do just fine son! Her family are very keen to get her married!
Prince Charming: There’s no way I’m marrying Bella!
King Charming: THEN FIND SOMEONE! FOR GOODNESS SAKE BOY! TELL YOU WHAT! WE’LL HOST A BALL IN YOUR HONOUR. THE ONE YOU FIND MOST ATTRACTIVE, YOU’LL BE MARRIED TO!
Prince Charming: But… Father!
King Charming: NO BUTS! YOU EITHER MARRY SOMEONE AT THE BALL OR YOU MARRY BELLA!
Prince Charming: Do I have a choice?
King Charming: Of course you do! Bella or someone else. Where’s Tom! TOM! TOM!!!!
(Enter Tom)
King Charming: Write this down Tom. Invite Lord and Lady Weak, Miss Annabelle, just anyone
(Tom writes it down)
Tom: I’ll write the invites myself!
King Charming: No! have our scribe do it!
Tom: Yes sir! I’ll tell him immediately!
(Exit Tom)
King Charming: (To his son) You had better turn up! I mean it son!
Prince Charming: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll be in the forest
(Exit Prince Charming)
(King Charming sighs)
(Song Starts Playing – ‘He’s all grown up’)
King Charming: What am I going to do?! My son! He’s my only son! I want to see him happy! I can’t bear to see him so upset and lonely! What’s a father to do?! He’s not interested in sports or women. God knows what will happen to the family! We’ll end up giving the throne to the Weak’s! Oh God, such a thought! I just wish my son would get married, then I as a King and a father can stop worrying… Well I better be off, I need a drink and some time to think… alone
(Exit King Charming)
